Trump on N. Korea: My attitude is the one that matters
2017/10/12 04:58
WASHINGTON, Oct. 11 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday that his attitude is "the one that matters" when it comes to resolving the impasse over North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
Trump made the remark in response to a question about whether he and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson are on the same page on how to deal with the communist regime.
"I think I have a little bit different attitude on North Korea than other people might have," he told reporters at the start of talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the White House. "And I listen to everybody but ultimately my attitude is the one that matters, isn't it? That's the way it works. That's the way the system is."
Trump has been tough on North Korea as the regime has fired a series of ballistic missiles and conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test in recent months.
He has threatened to "totally destroy" the nation if necessary and called Tillerson's efforts to reach out to the regime a waste of time.
"I think perhaps, I feel stronger and tougher on that subject than other people," the president said. "But I listen to everybody. Ultimately I will do what's right for the United States. And really what's right for the world because that's really a world problem, not just the United States. That's a world problem. That's a problem that has to be solved."
On Tuesday, Trump met with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joe Dunford to discuss a "range of options to respond to any form of North Korean aggression," according to the White House.
The same day, the U.S.flew two B-1B Lancer bombers nears the Korean Peninsula in a show of force.
P!
Damn right.
Trump matters.
The NYT et al do not.
Sorry, MSM losers, but the press is for losers.
And Hillary.
Finally, an adult in charge and not some little kid like Obama that never listened then threw temper tantrums.
The buck stops with the President. President Trump knows he is one that is ultimately responsible.
Trumps an action man when he sees a solution to a problem. I think he’ll do just that once he sees the obstacles are either out of the way or can be controlled from any fallout from an action against N.Korea. Either way N.Korea is not going forward as things stand now.
I think Fat Boy and his pigs will try to keep stalling off for the next 8 years....they’ve done it in the past. May mean they have to give more than they want but you can be certain every day that passes is one more day they will devise plans to conceal what they’re doing with their Nuclear Programs so they will continue.
the bed wetters are coming unglued...they are already surrendering, talking about “we can contain NK”....same ol appeasement talk. Trump wants to settle this issue once and for all,..screw it..let em all go nuclear, thats whats gonna happen anyway. Damn fools.
Exactly why I voted for him!
He is the Decider in Chief.
No more willy-nilly leadership by poll like Obama.
I just pray that he doesn’t wait too long.
Same here.
Very well said. No way that Fatboy can misunderstand. But it’s Tillerson’s job to keep the doors open, and it will do not harm for him to do so just as long as the Norks understand that Trump has the final say, and he’s not about to give in, like his predecessors.
Unlike the Post Turtle and Eddie Munster and a host of other slimy, filthy swamp creatures in congress, Trump has his “Big Boy Pants” on and ain’t afraid of wearing em.
I’m sure we’ll win but it’s the AFTER I’m more worried about. I dont want our boys doing reconstruction stuff when we know what happened after Iraq.
I think a person’s attitude is less important than what decisions and actions he decides to take. We shall see.
Well, Trump is Commander-in-Chief after all. No doubt that’s a title that the anti/never Trumpers will never be able to bring themselves to utter out loud. They probably think their tongues would turn black.
I greatly respect the insights of those who post here. Would anyone have links to recommend re: how things are likely to play out should it come to armed conflict? I presume that there are scenarios where the US overwhelms NK before they have the chance to do catastrophic damage. Is that right?
To a question before his cabinet, Abraham Lincoln voted “aye” and his six cabinet members voted “nay.” The President then pronounced the result:
“Nays, six. Ayes, one. The ayes have it.”
Now there was a President.
+++++++++++++
This version from the LAT. Sorry if that offends.
Any reconstruction will be done either by China or SK. China if they see the writing on the wall and know Rocket boy’s days are numbered. SK if we put fat boy down hard. Either way NK will be liberated from the sun god.
