A personal injury law firm is now suing the producer of bump stocks devices that can be fitted to a semi-automatic weapon to simulate fully-automatic fire over its reported role in the Las Vegas shooting.
The lawsuit was filed Friday on behalf of concert-goers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival and does not purport to represent the 58 who were killed or the hundreds of others who were injured, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
Police said that at least two of the weapons in Stephen Paddocks hotel suite were fitted with bump stocks. The firm, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, specifically targets a Texas-based arms company called Slide Fire Solutions.
The people who attended the concert have suffered so much already. The physical injuries are staggering, and we know the emotional injuries can be equally severe and long term, the firm said in a statement. Brady has decades of experience supporting the victims of gun violence and has been the only organization in the nation focused on seeking justice for them in the courts.
The inventor of bump stocks, Jeremiah Cottle, has said he created the device to help the disabled who have difficulty operating firearms, according to The Dallas Morning News. Cottles small town company is based in Moran, Texas, a town with only 300 residents.
If the court decides in the firms favor, Slide Fire Solutions will be responsible for covering the costs of concert-goers ongoing mental health treatment.
Brady Center Co-President Avery Gardiner said the firm will also go after those who sell bump stocks, not just the original producer.
Its not just the makers, its who marketed and sold them, she said. They are all to be held responsible.

Have the details of the weapons used been released yet? Were the bump-stocks actually used, sear/trigger mechanisms altered, or were some just auto-fire weapons..
Thanks.
After I moved from Seattle to KY, I noticed the shocking proliferation of ambulance chaser billboards. Morgan and morgan is one of them.
The absolute worst is “the hammer”. He sometimes doubles up billboards at the same place. They are everywhere. From northern Indiana to the heart o small town Kentucky.
I found out from someone that “the Hammer” really just sucontracts out your case to other attorney firms and taks a “piece of the action” if you prevail.
IOW, they are really just a referral service. A thousand people call, they can only handle 100 of the cases, and farm out the other 900 to other law firms for a percentage of the winnings.
Great work if you can get it.
I’ve also heard it said that you can identify the finanial strength of an area’s economy by the number of ambulance chaser billboards. The more of these billboards there are, the more financially depressed the area is.
But if the car was working as designed, would it be reasonable for a plaintiff to prevail against Ford?
I think that as long as the bump stock worked as advertised, the plaintiff has no case.
I can only assume you were being sarcastic. ;-)
Perfect analogy ... too sensible for the leftist mind to grasp.
We also want all correspondence, emails, etc between the Brady organization and high ranking members of the democratic party or their consultants within the past 18 months.
Counter sue with the half breed as person responsible.
Then pass the popcorn.
...and the dealership he bought it from, and the State for allowing him to license it, and the highway department for making the roads available for him to drive on, and...
Some lawyers are gonna be ghetto rich !
But wait. The bump-stock, slide-stock was approved as a legal accessory by the Obama ATF.
Therefore, it is holy and sacred and cannot be the basis for a lawsuit.

You might want to add Big Oil, and (eek) GASOLINE.
M&M is out of Orlando. We saw their ads all the time when we lived in FL. Thought we’d never see them again after we moved. Then......boom! We see he and his assocs have gone nationwide. Oh well.

And the gas company that drilled the oil and the gas company that produced the gasoline and the convenience store that sold the gas to make the Ford Mustang drive down the road and the city that approved the budget for the road and the company that surveyed the road and the company that paved the road and don't forget the taxpayers who were in on every stage.

Since there is no actual information on the actual use of this, the case should be tossed immediately.
At least wait until the investigation proves this.
That said, I think bump stocks look stupid and dangerous
wait a minute!! can i sue spoon manufacturers for making me fat too??
Slide Fire Solutions was selling a product that was legal - it even had BATFE approval, so it was CLOSELY examined - and said product performed without any defects.
Are utensil manufacturers responsible for the heart disease or diabetes that people who use their products get after using said products to fill their mouths with unhealthy foods?
Are car manufacturers responsible for the murders committed by drunk drivers?
Are swimming pool manufacturers and builders responsible for every kid that drowns in a pool (that the adults of the household didn’t secure properly)?
Are beer and liquor manufacturers responsible for drunk driving deaths and alcoholism?
NO in each case, and thus the answer MUST be “no” in the case of Slide Fire Solutions. They CANNOT be held responsible for the criminal acts of another person...with whom they have no privity of contract (i.e. no direct dealings - this product was undoubtedly sold to a wholesaler, and then to a retailer, and only then to Paddock).
Me, I’d not only request that the court grant summary judgment against the plaintiff for failure to state a claim, but I’d immediately thereafter file a complaint against the lawyer in question for filing a frivolous lawsuit. Get the bastard disbarred, and deter other such suits.
“I hope the NRA takes this case on, this small company is going to need some heavy hitters or its going out of business whether its legal to sue them or not.”
Uh, screw the NRA!
The NRA has already come out in favor of banning/heavily regulating this company’s products. Even heavy regulation (i.e. making a bump-fire stock a NFA item, requiring BATFE approval and a tax stamp) will effectively put this company out of business.
No, Slide Fire Solutions should look to a major pro-firearms organization, instead. The NRA no longer qualifies.
FYI, I was a member of the NRA for 19 years - but left when they backed super-citizen status for retired police officers (who are otherwise known as “civilians”) regarding nationwide right to carry legislation, and threw the rest of us under the bus.
