OOOOOOO!! I’m SO jealous!! That must have been an incredible sight to see in person! I got goosebumps just watching launches on TV. My dad being involved in the space industry got me interested in all things space related and that interest remains.

It was a pretty good day here. We got a little rain but no thunderstorms, durn it. It was a bit cooler than yesterday ad the next couple of days will be as well.

It did give me goosebumps. And the sound of it taking to the air, even from quite a ways off, is amazing! Can’t be recorded as it sounds in real life!

I think we were as close as we could get. Across the Indian River and Merritt Island. Or we might have been on Merritt Island...I really can’t remember. I just know that we were at the edge of water and there were a lot of people there. I got pictures, but I’d have to go through a lot of stuff to find them. They aren’t digital. LOL!

Yeah, they kept people a ways off, just in case something went wrong. More than one rocket has exploded during launch over the years.

But you were THERE while most of us had to settle for watching on TV. Lucky, lucky, lucky!

I do feel lucky to have had that experience. I wish I could have seen the shuttle, but the time I was there for it, they had to postpone the lift off for some reason [probably weather related], and then I had to leave.

THAT would have been epic! But my son did take me ona driving tour through Canaveral and he also took me on a tour through the Vandenburg site in CA. He just happened to be in the missile program and was in the right places. :) I didn’t get to see one take off in CA, though.The launchpads are huge.
