When Gwyneth Paltrow was 22 years old, she got a role that would take her from actress to star: The film producer Harvey Weinstein hired her for the lead in the Jane Austen adaptation “Emma.” Before shooting began, he summoned her to his suite at the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel for a work meeting that began uneventfully.
It ended with Mr. Weinstein placing his hands on her and suggesting they head to the bedroom for massages, she said.
“I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified,” she said in an interview, publicly disclosing that she was sexually harassed by the man who ignited her career and later helped her win an Academy Award.
She refused his advances, she said, and confided in Brad Pitt, her boyfriend at the time. Mr. Pitt confronted Mr. Weinstein, and soon after, the producer warned her not to tell anyone else about his come-on. “I thought he was going to fire me,” she said.

There apparently are a lot of people who say these allegations are unsurprising, that it was an open secret, jokes made about it, et al.
Why are we not condemning ALL of those people, who apparently knew?
It is unfortunate for Harvey, that he couldn’t have gotten the “vast right wing conspiracy” message out before it was too late..

Paltrow’s father Bruce (who died in 2002) was a minor TV director. He’s best known for directing episodes of The White Shadow and St’ Elsewhere.

My guess: Weinstein was intensely hated by many in the movie industry. Not for his personal life, but the way he "worked the system" to turn Miramax into a force in Hollywood. So much so that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) changed the rules to get Oscar nominations to reduce his Harvey Weinstein's influence.

A girl who graduated from my high school talked of becoming an actress. She was gorgeous.
I’ll never forget her saying “When I get out there, I just want someone to tell me who I need to &$^% to make it big. I’m ready.”
They are not victims unless they resist.

I know a guy who worked on the set of a movie that was shot here in Pittsburgh. Worked his butt off and made tons of money.
Apparently he was really good at his job, because when the production wrapped they came with him with an offer to join the union, move to Hollywood and do this full time.
He turned them down. He told me it was because there was no way he could get up every morning and go to work with all of those pedophiles.
Frankly, the only thing that shocks me is that the guy was molesting young women instead of boys.

Yep. Rose McGowan is one example (I suspect there are more) of an actress who took up the "End the Rape Culture" cause, while doing nothing at all to stop a known predator like Weinstein.
I'm sure that she used that activism to convince herself that she was "in the fight", or something.
Maybe not a “kid,” but certainly a waif.
