Thanks.
He was U.S. Army Air Corps. He had already enlisted before December 7, 1941 and then was sent to flight training after Pearl Harbor.
He flew C-47s in CBI (flew The Hump), then North Africa, and dropped supplies to the Italian partisans before the invasion of Italy. So he fought against both the Japanese and the Germans.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. I am very proud...and grateful...to be his son.

I spent 4 years at Altus in the 443FMS, 1979 to 1983. Every single year, a tornado hit the base. Not a good thing when you are an Air Frame Repair Specialist on c-5s and 141s.

Oh, I forgot one piece of trivia....One of Dad’s flight instructors at Altus was none other than comedian George Gobel. One night Johnny Carson kidded him about his stateside service. Gobel responded with something like, “You can laugh if you want, but how many Japanese aircraft got past Tulsa?”

I recommend the Carson Tonight Show You Tube video of George Gobel, Dean Martin and Bob Hope. One of the funniest videos from the Tonight Show.

Just had to watch it. Oh, for a show where there were laughs without meanness, and jokes but no vicious politics.

Wow! Nice front moving through your area tonight! I don’t think it’s going to make it this far. :-(
Something’s coming through tomorrow but we won’t cool off as much as y’all are. Just going to have some rain and thunderstorms.

Howdy, Kathy.
Taking a quick breather from homework?
No light shows today but I hope for some tomorrow afternoon and evening. Just hot, dreary, and muggy today.

Yep...quick break....being able to get something done Monday takes pressure off of Tuesday and Tuesday night.
Is that Nate that is finding you tomorrow?
