I was young teenage girl living in Rochester, NY in the 60's ... My Dad was a Browns fan.
My family moved from NYC to Rochester in 1964 (just weeks before the riots!) and I was really surprised to find so many Giants and Browns fans.

Funny you mention the riots. I was a cheerleader at Madison High School, and we were supposed to have a car wash that Saturday. The Head Cheerleader was black, and called me to tell me they'd cancelled the car wash because "it looked like rain." I didn't realize until later that the real reason was the riots. I don't remember any school closings over it, even though the high school was in the black part of the city. We never had any race problems at the school when I attended it from 8th to 12th grade (1960-65). They eventually tore down the school. I moved away from Rochester in 1972, and only went back for family, which are all gone now.
