Yes, it’s common for it to be mandatory to cheer a candidate during the campaign and then to act like one always thought he was a rotter a few years later.
I don’t thing there’s anything strange about supporting someone when he’s the only option you’ve got. It doesn’t mean you think everything about him is wonderful.
