I don’t agree with liberals often, because I’m not an idiot and because I love America, but when they once again say, “We must have a conversation about guns!” I still couldn’t agree more. And, since all we’ve heard is you leftists shrieking at us all week, I’ll start it off.
You don’t ever get to disarm us. Not ever.
There. It sure feels good to engage in a constructive dialogue.
Now, we should have this conversation because in recent years we’ve seen a remarkable antipathy for the fact that normal Americans even have rights among those on the left. We should have this conversation to clear the air before leftists push too far and the air gets filled with smoke. But we really don’t need to have a conversation about our rights to keep and bear arms. They’re rights. There’s nothing to talk about.

I just simply tell people if firearms and lack of legislative controls on firearms were really the problem and a serious one at that, places like Vermont and Switzerland would be among the most violent on earth.

A Muslim kills people with a truck, a knife, a plane, or a gun and the big worry is "Will there be a backlash? We must protect the Muslims from the Islamaphobes!"

Carry the conversation a little further. Make it a requirement for graduation from high school that every student is to take a course in the care, feeding, grooming, and proper legal use of handguns, from derringer pistols all the way up to repeating and semi-automatic rifles.
Once guns are properly demystified, and the respect for their use is instilled in all young people, then the real learning may begin. An armed society is a polite society, and politeness is sorely lacking in today’s world. Take the example of the country of Switzerland.
Every able-bodied male Swiss citizen is inducted into the Swiss military by age 20, and remains part of the Ready Reserve the rest of their lives. There is a legal requirement that every household in which Swiss citizens reside, that the head of the family, and all other members as part of the Ready Reserve, possesses and maintains a firearm in good working order, and an acceptable level of competent marksmanship demonstrated.
Switzerland has not been invaded by ANYONE for centuries. The country has had guests, but they do not have the rights of citizens, and are excluded from any possession of hand weaponry in the ordinary course of events.
