Something was improperly secured or he would not have been charged with Aggravated Weapons violation(s).

Pistol was in the vehicle with him, so it was legally on his person...

As I stated, it should have been in trunk, unloaded, field stripped/locked, etc. AR-15 should have been locked, stripped, etc.
