Seems to me that they are trying to push for an aggravated weapons charge just to cover their collective ass. Cause if there was no crime, then taking them into custody was false arrest.

They're not legal in Chicago (assault weapons ban), and O'Hare is in Chicago.
With no Illinois concealed carry permit, the pistol would have to be unloaded and in a case. It it wasn't, then he was illegally transporting the pistol.
