'They're giving up,' said Lieutenant General Paul Funk, who commands the coalition task force fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. 'Their leaders are abandoning them.'

In uncommon scenes, large groups of militants were turning themselves over to Kurdish Peshmerga forces, in the city southwest of Kirkuk.

'The speed at which the enemy gave up surprised me,' Funk said in a phone interview from Baghdad, after Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of Hawija.

Funk said about 1,000 militants surrendered in the past three or four days of fighting in Hawija. The coalition had estimated up to 1,500 militants were defending the city when the offensive began.

In Erbil?

If in the KRG military, I’d be surprised if they were Ezidi. Kurds? Possibly.

KRG has some soldiers who are very prejudice against the Ezidi. They are Kurds, but some don’t like the Ezidi. (Others claim all Kurds come from Ezidi)

There is a lot of difference between Barzani’s Peshmerga and the PUK elements of Talabani. PUK are totally secular. KRG? depends on who they are. There are both Sunni and Shia in Peshmerga.

“I hope some have to surrender to the Kurdistan Army Women’s Division.”

Me too, I’ve read that those rough and tough men, only when they are in numbers, won’t be getting their virgins if they are killed by a woman.

>>Funny how President Trump, who never served in the military, knew that and fixed it.<<

I do understand your point, but on the other hand anyone with a modicum of common sense knows that a military trained to destroy things and kill the enemy cannot accomplish its mission if ruling bureaucrats intentionally undermine their mission with absurd rules of engagement.

“when Obama went away, Isis went away.”

ISIS might be going away, but you can bet your bottom dollar, obama and his gang of thugs aren’t going anywhere.

“obama and his administration should be put on trial for war crimes.
I second that”.

I third that. I thank the LORD above that Donald J. Trump is our President....and shutter to think of hillary in the oval office. Hilliary in the oval office would be what NIGHTMARES are made of.

Trump said he was going to destroy ISIS during his election campaign, and he is on target to do that, something Obama would not do.

This was actually one of his bigger promises, and many thought it would be impossible or require massive intervention of U.S. ground troops and a resulting blood bath.

Instead, Trump has quietly gone about helping to destroy ISIS, and it has happened in less than a year since he’s been in office. Fortunately, Trump has also appeared to revert back to one of his other promises: no nation building and quit toppling dictators only to result in regions devolving into permanent chaos, i.e., no more talk of toppling Bashar al-Assad.

These are HUGE foreign policy accomplishments and major U.S. victories. Naturally, the enemedia is completely silent about any of this.

“Summary executions.”

We can’t do that.

Sure you can. Those are the accepted rules of engagement. Only way to get rid of the problem is to kill them all.

There never would have been an Isis without Obama, H. Clintoon, Brennan, Clapper, his perfumed princes and princesses in charge of our military and of course his undocumented Democrats in Congress pretending to be republicans.

Throw in Dana Perino. Night after night she was saying what a wonderful thing the "Arab Spring" was when anyone with half a brain could tell it was an AQ front.

"Don’t know about in Iraq, but in Syria they don’t want to be captured by Assad’s forces or the Russians."

Then those are the people we should give them to. I'd prefer the Russians, since they an uniquely creative way of interpreting "due process" when it comes to dealing with radical Muzzies.

“The speed at which the enemy gave up surprised me”

Not me. Common tactic of theirs is to ‘surrender’ when faced with a certain loss. Then regroup once freed, and fight again.

Hopefully the Kurds understand that they’ll be back fighting any of these people they don’t put down or at least permanently disable. They aren’t the kind to let bygones be bygones.

Send them to the rear for “processing.”

Like we did in the Pacific Theater in WWII.

This is in Iraq. I cannot speak for how it is handled there. They have tried, convicted and executed some of ISIS they captured.

In Syria few were “released” Some of the local conscripts in Tabqa were released. There were few prisoners.

It may be different in the KRG.

ISIS is considered Sunni, Iraq Peshmerga is roughly 75% Sunni and 25% Shia. Not all of the KRG are Muslim. There are Christians, Ezidi and others too. Not sure about composition of those in the Peshmerga.

The Iraq PUK elements (Talabani’s) are much more diverse. They are totally secular on religion, like in Syrian YPG & YPJ.

Actually, Petraeus created ISIS under GW Bush’s 2nd term to turn back the insurgency. ISIS was created from Saddam Hussein’s Sunni killers, his republican guard.

But these Sunni killers were controlled, bottled up by the US military command in Iraq.

Obama changed the ground rules which let Saddam’s Sunni killing machine expand into ISIS and take over vast territories.

Petraeus is not a good guy. He’s not a good guy because he allowed the Suni killing machine to operate at will so long as the appearance of US control was maintained. In allowing this, ISIS was formed and committed unspeakable atrocities.

Petraeus was appointed CIA Director where he had free reign to contract some nasties to carry out ISIS level atrocities and in fact blamed ISIS for them when it was convenient. In other words, Petraeus and all those he represents formed a duo with ISIS towards their own ends.

Today Petraeus is the point man for the Senate Armed Services Committee where McCain calls the shots, and which is the biggest pay-to-play arena of corruption in Congress. These are the Neocon leaders who want war everywhere 24/7 because there’s money in it. Petraeus has been ‘marketing’ for war with North Korea since before Lil Rocket Man has been launching long-range missiles and causing earthquakes with hydrogen bomb blasts. Petraeus wants 150,000 troops to start at the DMZ and an armada of US Navy ships aiming at NK. He also wants 150,000+ in Syria. General Mattis said he would take out North Korea in 15 minutes. Petraeus doesn’t want 15 minutes, he wants more like 15 years if not perpetual. He’s a madman.

Obama wanted to overthrow all the brutal dictators in some sort of Arab Spring scheme. He avoided countries like Iran where Islamic clerics ruled with an iron fist. But Obama allowed ISIS to grow out of control as some sort of Obama type of Non-US military surrogates because he wanted them to carry out his plan to overthrow everything not fanatically Islamic. Obama was a closet Muslim, wanted to see a great Muslim ruling structure. He wanted to take out Erdogan using Feta Gulen but he failed. He also lost his temporary win in Egypt and he lost the gambit to alter the Israeli elections and toss out Netanyahu. Obama like Petraeus is a madman but unlike Petraeus he always used surrogates and made himself appear in the media as having nothing to do with the trouble he caused.

Thank God Trump was elected. Hope he makes a deal to claim a portion of Iraqi oil in perpetuity for the USA. US can act as a broker to China who will buy all the Iraqi oil they can load. That is an instant revenue stream to the US government that can be used to lower the obscene deficits that Obama, Ryan, McConnell racked up.

I don’t follow the groups there nearly as close as you. I just see the pictures and remember how these animals would ‘surrender’ one day and fight the moment they got a chance...once freed. They need dealt with ‘permanently’.
