Donald Malarkey, a World War II paratrooper who was awarded the Bronze Star after parachuting behind enemy lines at Normandy to destroy German artillery on D-Day, has died. He was 96.
Malarkey was one of several members of "Easy Company" to be widely portrayed in the HBO miniseries, "Band of Brothers." He died Sept. 30 in Salem, Oregon of age-related causes, his son-in-law John Hill said Sunday.
Malarkey fought fight across France, the Netherlands and Belgium and with Easy Company fought off Nazi advances while surrounded at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944.

It’s my understanding the taking of the German 88s at Brecourt Manor by Easy Co under Lt. Winters is still a textbook example of small unit assault tactics taught at The US Military Academy...
MOH recommended for Winters, downgraded by Gen. Maxwell Taylor to a DSC...Several other Easy Co members decorated for this action as well...
Go EASY, Sgt Malarkey!
I’m overdue to reread the book and watch the series. RIP troops and BRAVO on a great feat of kicking ass.
God bless him.
Same here.
Best television ever.
RIP Hero
Per Band of Brothers, Malarky quietly led and got the job very well done.
I just finished watching that series again yesterday for the tenth time. We still have those men in this country despite what anyone says. Our current troubles (in my opinion) stem from the Bolshevik refugees from Russia, the Fabian Socialists from Great Britain and an unknown number of Marxist fanboys who have never stopped trying to bring this country down. Not to mention the private banking interests that financed the countless ‘peoples uprisings’ for a hundred years and continue to this day.
We owe him a debt that cannot be paid.
I somehow felt the need to walk over to him and offer him my hand...which he shook weakly (he was obviously not in good health).
As I approached him I couldn't help but notice that he had tears in his eyes.
I'll never forget it.
KAT (kickasstorrents) was busted down by the FBI about a year or so ago...
RIP.
