Do you know the story of Herostratus? He was an ancient Greek nobody who burned down the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus (one of the Seven Wonders of the World). He did it simply so that he would be famous.
The Greek authorities were not having any of that. They decreed that the name of Herostratus was not to be spoken, not to be recorded. Herostratus would be forgotten, and no one would ever know the name of Herostratus because it was important that Herostratus not get his wish and not become famous for thousands of years.
Some Greek historian wrote it all down.
D’oh!
Who?
