Things could get pretty hot there in a couple of days. Hopefully cooler heads prevail.

Your basic problem, in a nutshell, is that one side has lots of money and wants to leave while the other side has lots of guns and wants them to stay. Which side do you think will prevail. Stealing a phrase from the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, “Guns will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no guns.”

I’ve lost track. Is this a war or a rumor of war?

As with the Iraq/Iran war I’m cheering for both sides!

My family is Basque, still have relatives over there. I guarantee you that if major violence breaks out over there and it shows Madrid is preventing Catalunya from controlling it’s own destiny that the other autonomous regions will start their own separation movements as well.

Galicia, Basque Country, maybe even Asturias. Spain is not a cohesive common culture or society. The regionalism is as fragmented and unique as different sovereign cultures.

If Catalonia leaves, it will be a full muslim enclave in five years.

And Spain will be Andalusia in ten. That is why the Army is there.

This time, there is no Martel to keep them south of the Pyrenees.

Sending in the army? This strategy worked so well for the governor of Massachusetts in April 1775...got those troublemakers to fall in line and do as they were told.

Gov’t brute force. When challenged, it comes down to that.

Prayers and support for the people of Catalonia.
