Stephen Paddock, the gunman who rained bullets on the Route 91 Harvest festival on Sunday night, rented a room overlooking the Life is Beautiful festival in downtown Las Vegas a week earlier, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said Wednesday.
Lombardo said that Paddock, 64, of Mesquite rented the room at the Ogden during the festival, which ran from Sept. 22-24, via the Airbnb room-sharing site.
He said investigators had not yet determined whether Paddock was engaged in “pre-surveillance” of the music and art event.
“We don’t know yet,” he said of Paddock’s presence in the hotel.

I had read earlier that he couldn’t get the room he wanted during that festival, so he moved on..

This took TONS AND TONS of planning and he didn’t rush AT ALL.

It really looks like he had A CAUSE.
He had some guiding light. He had some twisted principle in his mind, I think he probably considered his actions somehow unselfish and meaningful.

More and more it appears the guy had a plan. A major plan for maximum damage to be inflicted on a large group of people. A somewhat smaller version of 911 events it could be.....isn’t this the way muzzies plan things?
The car bomb seems to be part of his plan. It was parked when he was shooting. Should it have been somewhere else? With someone else?
He was an accountant, very thorough in his preparation. The attempt to rent a room earlier was reconnaisance.
He was given the room at the Mandalay for free. How does that happen?

Yes he had motives. We may come to know what they are some day.
It’s a bit premature for some to conclude that the country music festival was targeted solely because it was more likely to be a conservative audience.
This Life Is Beautiful seems to be a bit more mainstream pop&rock event with a larger audience.
Then again, Lee Harvey Oswald held tickets to a Dick Clark pop & rock revue the night of the JFK assassination. That concert was cancelled and Oswald was in jail.

Yesterday afternoon I saw an interview with a Vegas police official who was describing some of the stuff found in the car. Among the items was approx. 20 pounds of Tannerite which requires a high velocity round hit to detonate. Imagine if he would have been able to attach a container of it to an airport fuel tank or on the back of the stage.
