Two days after an attacker opened fire on concert goers in Las Vegas, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc) announced he was shelving legislation to deregulate suppressors.
-snip-
Ryan has now shelved the Hearing Protection Act, which was introduced into Congress on January 9; it is the legislation containing suppressor deregulation. The Act does not legalize suppressorsas they are already legalrather, it removes the burdensome process for acquiring them and erases the federal tax that must be paid in order to receive permission to posses one.

Just beyond. I could suggest far worse.
Neat! An anti-gun POS slipped by the moderators and made it on to Free Republic!
Im actually with Ryan on this one. Guns dont need silencers.
Lying rat bastard and coward.
Actually, Paul Ryan sides with Paul Ryan.
It wasn't the sound that slaughtered those folks -- and, even without a suppressor, no one could locate the source of the shots.
Besides, at that cyclic rate, suppressors would have melted or warped -- probably disabling the weapons.
Ryan is purely a liberal, political pussy!!!
.
He’s been stinking this place up with control freak insanity for a long time.
.
It’s started, but THE RINO no less. Trump will cave next.
Dude, seriously calm down. You think McCain and Lindsey Graham, and Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins and the squishy Republicans in the house are going to vote for this NOW? Pushing it now is a sure way to kill it. The one thing you and Nancy Pelosi have in common is you both wish this would come up for a vote right now. Be reasonable.
Because he took it off the calendar after the Scalise shooting as well.
What a worthless SOS! Time for the President to kick him to the curb.
I am very concerned that a national reciprocity bill (that can pass Congress) will impair the rights of the citizens of free states.
In Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, we have a 54,389 square mile area with permitless concealed carry. Maine and NH are permit-optional, Vermont does not even issue permits.
Many Democrats have advocated for a “reciprocity” scheme that requires training, fingerprinting, and testing. You can be sure that this Congress will NEVER pass a bill that does not take some of these “common sense” requirements and force them on free states.
Also, I’m not sure Congress has the Constitutional authority to regulate the police powers of the several States.
What Congress COULD do, and do immediately, is recognize all 49 states CCW permits (remember, Vermont does not even HAVE permits) within the District of Columbia. No citizen of any of the 50 states is safe walking down the street in 2/3 of DC, Congress has plenary authority over all of the District and is free to legislate “in all cases whatsoever”. Let’s get them to do THAT.
I don’t blame Hillary. A snake is a snake. But I do blame traitors that run as conservatives.
Well surprise, surprise, surprise. Mission accomplished.
The bill wouldn’t have made them illegal....so they remain status quo. Hillary gets nothing.
I’ve been on the web site since the 90s... I’ll happily stand by my credentials and history.
Please. Been an active member of this site since the 90s... I have no problem standing by my statements or my credentials.
No ones second amendment rights are infringed in any way by this bill dying or bump stocks being banned.
Boehner/Ryan...Both spelled the same: C O W A R D...
Please, I’ve been an active member of this site since the 90s, I have no problem standing by my statements or my pedigree around here. You show me which constitutional right has been infringed in any way by the death of this bill of the banning of sales of bump stocks.
Been here since the 90s. If I’m “left field” I suggest you get a lot more familiar with this site and its members.
