The shooter in Sunday night’s mass slaughter of 59 concert goers in Las Vegas, identified as 64-year-old Stephen Craig Paddock, a man with no criminal history, is now being investigated for possible ties to Islamic terrorists.
At least 527 people were injured in what was described by Sheriff Joseph Lombardo as a well-coordinated attack.
ISIS claimed credit in an Arabic-language website, but authorities immediately tried to debunk the claim saying they had no evidence to support it.
“We will investigate that down to the end,” but thus far nothing has been found to connect Paddock to international terrorism, Lombardo said at one of four news conferences held Monday on the shooting.
“We have determined, to this point, no connection to an international terrorist group,” said an unidentified spokesman for the FBI in a brief statement at a news conference at 11:40 a.m. Monday in Las Vegas.
The questions stemmed from a Twitter posting by the group Site Intel Group that ISIS spokesman Amaq has claimed Paddock was one of its “soldiers” who converted to Islam months ago.

The statement, in Arabic, read, “Attacker of the #Las_Vegas shooting is a soldier of the Islamic State and carried out the operation in response to targeting coalition countries,” Jihadoscope, a cybermonitoring company that monitors jihadi activity, confirmed in a translation sent to Newsweek.
Michael S. Smith II, co-founder of terror analysis company Kronos Advisory, who regularly tracks ISIS activity, also confirmed to Newsweek the claim of responsibility and the claim about Paddock’s conversion.

When I was a kid the FBI was looked as the Gold Standard.
Sure they were imperfect but conducted themselves with the utmost professionalism and did their best to build confidence and instill credibility.
Now I see them as politically motivated, hampered by political correctness and no more trustworthy than other corrupt federal agencies.
They still have the expertise and ability - they just don’t have the unbiased, professional leadership they need to keep them non-political and above the fray.

The FBI can determine that there’s no Islamic connection in less than an hour, but the same FBI needs millions of dollars and years to investigate a Russian connection to Trump.

Yup, that happens before every mass shooting murder. Completely ordinary.
I got suspicious of the FBI investigations when they did the same thing in the Oklahoma City bombing case, when the FBI immediately came out and said 3 people were involved- Michael Fortier , Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh and no others.
I thought it would have taken months more to come to that conclusion and it couldn't be settled that quickly.

See the hotel in the background? Hard to tell for sure with a weird building design (can’t tell how many stories) in a video with the usual default amount of fish eye (lens, sensor), but I’m guessing roughly 200 meters or more horizontally and a little more for the slope.

Firing auto without cooling pauses only makes sense, if someone wanted to wound and murder as many as possible in a huge, dense crowd of civilians unaware of what’s happening. Very strange, indeed. But many groups of terrorists have been seen abusing rifles with auto fire in bursts of more than 15 rounds.
Is the FBI credible? Hardly.
