Democrats Immediately Call For Gun Control After Las Vegas Shooting
Daily Caller ^ | 10/02/2017 | Peter Hasson

Congressional Democrats chose not to wait for all the facts to come in before immediately pushing for increased gun control measures following the Las Vegas shooting Sunday night that left 50 people dead and more than 400 injured.

It’s not yet clear how the shooter, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, acquired his guns or if gun control measures could have prevented him from obtaining them, but leading Democrats are already demanding stricter gun control legislation.

Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy issued a statement Monday morning claiming that “the thoughts and prayers of politicians are cruelly hollow if they are paired with continued legislative indifference.” Murphy demanded Congress “get off its ass and do something” following the shooting.

“Tragedies like Las Vegas have happened too many times,” Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote on Twitter. “We need to have the conversation about how to stop gun violence. We need it NOW.”

If we could have gun control where Democrats are prevented from owning or possesing guns, there would be almost no murders in this country.

This event is proof positive.

Gun control DOES NOT WORK.

This gun is very unlikely to be one of the weapons someone had to go though the process to purchase and own legally.

It is almost certain to be an illegal weapon, that laws did not stop, just like they don’t stop inner city kids from owning guns and killing people with.

Democrats have been calling for “gun control since 1962, always just one little step at a time. Finally in 1976, Nelson “Pete” Shields, founder of Handgun control Inc, now the Brady Center spilled his guts on the REAL purpose of gun control.

Nelson T. ‘Pete’ Shields
Founder of Handgun Control, Inc.

“I’m convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. We’re going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily — given the political realities — going to be very modest.

Of course, it’s true that politicians will then go home and say, ‘This is a great law. The problem is solved.’ And it’s also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time.

So then we’ll have to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen that law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we’d be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal — total control of handguns in the United States — is going to take time.

My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition — except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors — totally illegal.”

-Pete Shields, Chairman and founder, Handgun Control Inc., “A Reporter At Large: Handguns,” The New Yorker, July 26, 1976, 57-58

“Yes, I’m for an outright ban [on handguns].”

-Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., 60 Minutes interview

HCI, around 1984, came out in favor of a ban on semi-auto rifles and shotguns.

Here are my memories of all the “gun control” schemes the Democrats have proposed....

And to think, in 1962 Thomas J Dodd and Emauell Cellar proposed the first federal law on common firearms.

1962; “We don’t want to take away your guns, we ONLY want to register handguns! Rifles and shotguns will not be affected”.

1964: “We only want to register all your guns, not ban them! Only Army surplus guns will be banned.”

1968: “We only want to register your guns, and ban “Saturday Night Specials” and small foreign handguns along with army surplus rifles!” (They got the ban on 5 shot army surplus rifles and handguns and small foreign pistols)

1970: “We only want to ban Saturday night specials! Large handguns and rifles will not be affected!”

1976: “We only want to ban all handguns! Long guns will not be affected!”

1981: “The NRA is a rifle organization! They should give up their handguns, and they can keep their rifles!”- Lee Grant on GMA

1984: “We must ban “assault Rifles, unsuitable or hunting!”

1989: George Bush bans import of some foreign made “assault rifles”.

1992: Assault rifle ban passed by Clinton.

2000: first calls to ban single shot .50 cal rifles...

2012 calls for MORE bans on semi auto rifles and handguns. If you can’t ban them then go after ammo limits, the magazines and styles of the stocks.

And so it continues.

They lied to us in 1962.
They lied to us in 1964.
They lied to us in 1968.
They lied to us in 1970.
They lied to us in 1976.
They lied to us in 1981.
They lied to us in 2013,

AND THEY ARE LYING TO US NOW!

I guess these idiots don’t remember Europe for the past two years. History shows, either you have a gun to defend yourself or you die on the ground begging not to be shot.

all the good folks didn’t carry to the concert because it was a ‘gun free zone’

so.....the shooter had a clear open field target which could not defend itself

gun control only sets innocent Americans up for the slaughter.

It should be evident by now that what we actually need is lib-control.

"I would think they would be easy to transport them inconspicuously in a golf-club bag."

The police said more than 10 rifles. Well, that's a lot of golf bags to transport that stuff up there don't you think? I guess he could have disassembled them and hidden them in suitcases, but again that would be a lot of suitcases. It's just curious and something worth looking into.

“Tragedies like Las Vegas have happened too many times,” Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote on Twitter.

And almost on cure, right?

Been quiet on the gun control circuit, Shazaam!

Another convenient shooting to get the drums beating again.

Yes, I am that cynical.

Of course. When 1 nut/Lefist/Moslem goes postal, every other gun owner has to have their rights infringed upon.

Yeah, well, that ain’t gonna happen. The Leftist, gun-grabbing, would-be tyrants couldn’t even get that passed under Obama, with a Dem-controlled House and Senate, and it certainly isn’t going to happen now, when the exact opposite is the case. 100+ million owners of over 400 million firearms are simply NOT going to comply, even if such a law was passed, and then “blessed” by the Supreme Court. You would instantly have at least 20 million armed felons running around, and they’d ALL be very pissed off.

But, in a way, this is refreshing - at least the Leftists are consistent. They make a good enemy, always trying to take away what you have worked for and what you depend upon, and they not only don’t apologize for it, they are proud of it. Kind of like the Nazis - they made a good enemy. Just NEVER let your guard down against them, any more than we did against the Nazis. Given the current political climate, the result has a good chance of being about the same for people like us on FR.

“The other being how did he get the 10 + guns and ammo into his room (being reported he checked in and didn’t leave). No one in as busy a hotel as that noticed that he was bringing that up to his room?”

In his suitcases. It isn’t like he carried them in while they were hanging from his shoulder. Hell, it’d be easy to do so if they were in pieces, wrapped in clothing (to avoid rattling). Better yet if he got his own suitcase cart from the hotel - then no one would even know how heavy his bags were.

And to break out the warpaint, considering the source.

(Would that be rayciss?)
