There are numerous states where private ownership of full auto is legal. I remember going to a gun show in Louisville, KY (my screen name/birthplace) and seeing a M-60 for $3,500. A S&W M-76 for $500 and they were throwing in a suppressor for free. Ray's Guns had an Uzi 9mm full auto for $1,600.

This would have been 1985. Then, in 1986, Reagan signed a law that said no private citizen could own a machine gun that had been manufactured after 1986. All full auto increased in price at least ten-fold. The M-60 today is about $60,000.

Thing is, I've only heard of one time a legally acquired full auto was used in a crime. It just doesn't happen. Even though there are thousands of them out there.

I'll be very surprised if this shooter was using full auto.

So, you’re saying it’s legal to own a fully automatic machine gun IF it was made before 1986? Others have posted it’s legal in SOME states. I have to ask why would anyone need a fully automatic other than to cause mass casualties or pure fun.

Am I wrong that even M16s soldiers carry only fire 3 round bursts?

If you listen to the sound it sounds fully automatic to me.

I agree. The rate of fire was slow, like an auto gloved weapon.

A full auto weapon does not work well with the recoil spring or gas feed dialed way back.

A full auto weapon such as an M-60 would not have such a defined series of reports, they would run together more.

The auto glove theory of bump fire mechanism makes the most sense from what I heard on the video feeds.

Do I think he is a Muslim convert jihadhi? If he is not, he sure acted like one.
