Let's be brutally honest here. The founders of this country never envisioned a standing army that would function as an imperial colonial force all over the globe in the first place. Traitors like this would have been dealt with long before they got close to the U.S. Military Academy.

This country was built on the strength of colonial militia groups. People like Daniel Morgan, Francis Marion and Ethan Allen would have overthrown the U.S. government themselves before they ever let anyone send them to Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan for 15+ years.

For a stark reminder of the loyalty of the US military, several examples include the vast number of men conscripted and sent to fight both the Japanese and the European Axis powers. Though they may have been unwilling to fight, when faced with the enemy, they remembered which side they were on, and given the choice of dying for this country, or making that poor SOB who is fighting for the other side die in HIS country, make your shots count.

The headline is completely misleading, too. This is not “Obama’s military” at all. The U.S. couldn’t even deal with a radical Islamic terrorist like the Fort Hood gunman in its ranks when George W. Bush was president.

Huh? Convene a General Court Martial TODAY. Charges include:
Article 94 Mutiny or Sedition
Article 104 – Aiding the enemy
Article 106 – Lurking as a spy or acting as a spy
Article 106a – Espionage

All of which carry the death penalty.

And for good measure, throw in Article 134 - Conduct unbecoming.

Exactly. The fact that these people weren’t hiding it and that the leadership at West Point was completely aware of it and did nothing is just as disturbing and suspect as the people posing with him in his pictures and taking the pictures. I view posing and taking pictures and people seeing this go on and not reporting it as an honor violation.

I’m sure there are still some senior leaders in the military that are holding the line and trying to affect positive change from within. What good would it do to all fall on their swords at once, like some juvenile labor dispute? Of course, it’s a lot more sensational to ask, “Why don’t they all mutiny and really teach the politicians a lesson?! If that were I, I would resign in protest!!” Right?

There are four reasons you don't see mass resignations over this total lack of loyalty.

1. Although humans are not always rational, they are capable of incredible rationalization.

2. People conflate "I need to stay in long enough to earn retirement" with "I need to stay in so I can effect change from within".

3. No one thinks of themselves as the bad guy, and

4. Most people inside the Beltway play some sort of political mind game in addition to their assigned billet.
