TV helped, but it wasn’t the predominant reason - there was no competition. If the Miami Dolphins were charging $120 for basic seats plus $20 parking and $15 hot dogs and the Miami “Hurricanes” in an alternative league were charging $40, $5 and $5 for the same thing, which do you think most would go? Same thing at the TV level. When you are the ONLY game in town for that, you can charge big bugs.

“All athletic scholarships should be banned as well. Thanks T Ruth.”

***

Why? Are you going to take away scholarships for musical talent too? Chess prowess? Math genius?

Should everyone who donated to a school for a dedicated scholarship have to take those away too? If I dedicate a scholarship to my college for a deserving lacrosse player who came from an inner city and can’t play in college without the help, as opposed to the general athletic scholarship I shouldn’t be able to do that from my own funds?

Might want to take a look at this:

Slippery slope. Not every big time college sports program is corrupt.

Who is fixing the pricing -- the NFL? I don't think so, except perhaps in the case of the NFL Network.

The real price-fixing and non-competitive collusion is going on between the networks and the cable and satellite companies, not between the NFL and the networks.

If you take away the anti-trust exemption, then teams will negotiate their own TV contracts instead of having the revenue sharing that takes place now. Say goodbye to teams in smaller markets like Buffalo and Jacksonville.

The lack of competition in a single market (in Miami, to cite your example) isn’t the result of monopolistic practices by the NFL, though. The NFL simply has a stronger brand name than any other competing football league, which means that the best players want to play for NFL teams, and the fans will pay more to see them.

Well, when they are allowed to buy out all the competing leagues, sure they are the largest league by far. Your eyes through the NFL are today. Go back to when the NFL acquired the AFL - should have never happened under anti-trust. It would be like Walmart and Amazon merging today.

Because sports isn’t an academic category, and eliminating it will in a few short years eliminate the steady stream of racist nitwits polluting professional sports. That’s why. That you need it explained is ridiculous.

You won’t get any arguments from me over the cable issue. Cable originally was supposed to be advertisement free as well.

From a marketing standpoint I never did like NFL games on cable channels where a fraction of the audience can see their entertainment product. NFL Network was even worse. Their entertainment product is there so they can sell merchandise and keep fans interested.

When they started restricting access like that, I thought that was a marketing mistake in the long run. They can get away with it because of demand but eventually tastes change and demand can wane. The added crony ad revenue was probably too tempting as well. They are going to have a real mess on their hands if they can’t turn this around.

How about a 50% tax on athletes to pay for inner city schools in the cities they play in - let the libs suck on that one ...

It’s not about free speech. If a player were to make an anti-abortion pretest, or anti-gay marriage protest, or a protest for men and women only bathrooms, he would be silenced and fined. It’s only about free speech approved by the league.

Anheuser Bush comment number 800 342 5283 NFL comment line 212 450 2225

I have read elsewhere, and it makes sense to me, that the purpose of these comment lines is to keep people from complaining on social media. If you leave a comment on Anheuser Bush's comment line, the comment is buried. But if you blast them on Twitter, it hurts their consumer image.

The democrats created racial divisuon when Obama through the abuse of his office and the “Bully Pulpit” began creating “victims” out of blacks engaged in criminal activities who were not just resisting legal arrest but responding by attacking legal authority and endangering their lives . It was a carpet of lies and inflamatory statemnts which went unchallanged and because it was suceeded..

The political purpose was to create racial division and a impeachable proof barrier as the continung political discourse continued.

With blame the cops for cold blooded killings started by Obama’s it was through his use of the Bully Pulpit. It began with his comments during the Zimmerman trial. Those inspired at least 10* deadly assaults ending in death of any non black who wandered near or in “hoods” controlled by members cf black gangs.

One such noteable case is that of Christopher Lane an Australian murdered by Crypts while visiting Duncan Oklahoma.*(At the time the media avoided any reference made to “For Trayvon” reason given in those murders by the culprits mainly gang members. Of the I think the figure (10)is more like 20 racially inspired murders)

NFL players seem to be kneeling on that same carpet

Obama was never held accountable for his inflamatory remarks. And because he wasn’t he contunued hammering away creating a wider racial division targeting police authority which resulted in cops being targeted and murdered in cold blood.

Yime to pull that rug from under their feet

Get lost moron, I disagree with you, PERIOD.

You want to start a college without any sports go ahead, the 99% of the rest of us couldn’t give a s**t. Recruit all the pajama boys to your school. Plenty of WHITE players get athletic scholarships too. And many of them NEED it.

Your solution is a JOKE.
