The NBA is recommending teams address fans or show videos expressing themes of unity before their first home games, while reminding them of the rule that players must stand for the national anthem.
A memo was sent to teams Friday, a day after Commissioner Adam Silver said he expected players would stand for the anthem.
In the memo, obtained by The Associated Press, Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum suggested teams use their opening games to demonstrate your commitment to the NBAs core values of equality, diversity, inclusion and serve as a unifying force in the community.
He recommended an address by a player or coach to fans before the anthem, or a video featuring players or community leaders speaking about important issues and showing photos from past community events.

TITLE: NBA: Players must stand for national anthem
Oh wow, a sternly worded memo request thingie.
The NBA wrote very clear rules about standing for the national anthem into their collective bargaining agreement with the player's union after dealing with their own "Colin Kaepernick" situation with some mutant malcontent back in the 1990s.
Core values of equality, diversity and inclusion. That’s apparent from their team photos.
In the case of the NBA...there’s roughly 80 to 100 players in the league who are not US citizens...yet they stand anyway. The last time I looked at the listing...over 25 countries covered.
I’m not sure about the NFL, but I kinda doubt that you have more than maybe six to eight non-American citizens.
Great. Now the National Bangers Association is gonna lock arms until the end of time. Fans should respond by letting these thugs play in half-empty arenas.
Too late.
Puppy’s out the box.
Horse’s out the barn
Cat’s out the bag.
Toothpaste out the tube.
It. Is. Over.
The NHL has a much higher “foreign” contingent, including a lot of very talented Russian players. They will all stand, even if it’s not their country.
“The NBA is recommending teams address fans or show videos expressing themes of unity before their first home games,”
So if there’s a video expressing unity with BLM, I assume there’ll be equal time given for videos expressing unity with the police, Trump, etc.... ??
Fans don’t want to see ANY of that crap, anyhow. It’s a game, not a political rally.
NBA is next for fan reject.
Remember folks- The NBA went ballistic over NC ban on transgender bathrooms
I wonder why they think sports celebrities are uniquely qualified to speak about “important issues.” What on earth could those issues be?
I’m not a sports fan, but running a video before the games on important issues, just sounds like a bunch of SJW crappolla. If they actually do this, fans should boycott them, and let them show their videos to empty arenas, and only their die-hard fans at home.
Come on. You expect a team to sign a guy named “Lee”?
Just his name is enough to trigger everyone in the arena.
None of this crap is the least bit “unifying”.
