The co-host of FN1’s Undisputed, former NFL player Shannon Sharpe, went on a hateful rant on Friday in regards to the anti-American NFL National Anthem protests, angrily arguing that the American flag is no big deal anyway, that it’s just a “piece of cloth” that “nobody fights for” and that it’s a symbol that’s somehow “racist” to boot.
“The flag, you see, to a lot of people, symbols, patriotism but what does that symbol actually mean?” Sharpe asked stunned co-host Skip Bayless. “What does — what does – okay — you keep telling me that the flag means so much and it’s opportunity and freedom and liberty. Okay. Can you honestly say that everybody in America has freedom and liberties and opportunity?”
“No,” Bayless calmly answered.
“Well, if you can’t can’t answer that, then we have a problem and we would like to have it addressed,” Sharpe shouted.
Shannon Sharpe, a former NFL tight end who spent all but two of his 12 seasons with the Denver Broncos, continued his hateful rant against the flag:
“And stop trying to sweep it under the rug. But, see, as long as you paint that narrative, oh, it’s the Anthem, I can’t — no — anybody that does something to the Anthem — well, we know what the anthem was originally written for and who it was written by, okay? The flag, okay? We understand what the flag? What does it represent?
When did this narrative come to be that the military and the police own the flag and only them? I can go buy a flag and I can hang it up in my backyard. We need to stop this, Skip. We need to — the flag is a piece of cloth and nobody fights for a piece...”

In WWII my French uncle was forced from his home to work for the enemy in a weapons factory in Nazi Germany, while the rest of his entire family, (my mother, grandmother, grandfather, aunts, uncles, and cousins) lived in constant fear in occupied France under the Nazi boot.
When he would come here to visit and would see an American (NOT French) Flag on display, he would insist on having his photo taken, with his camera, in front of the flag.
He would say I LOVE the flag American.
Was it just “a piece of cloth” to him?
Was it the “American” soldiers (symbolized by the flag) who rescued him and his entire extended family from bondage?
Was it the pride he had that his beloved sister married one of those American soldiers and brought him into the American family through their American/French children?
Just “a piece of cloth”?
Shannon is more than welcome to list the specific ways that he’s oppressed.
Cut the cable. No need to subject oneself to idiocy.
Shannon can explain that to the 36,000 blacks who died fighting for the Union Army, when he meets them.
I think these low life NFL multimillionaire brats should play in the North Korean Football League. They don’t stand for our National Anthem either.

The most dangerous position for a Civil War soldier was as the flag-bearer, both national and unit. During a battle, dozens .. if not hundreds .. would be shot down all over the battlefield and, immediately, others would step forward, drop their weapons, and raise the flags off the ground. Probably most of the hand-to-hand combat was oriented around the flags of the attacking/defending units, as they struggled either to safeguard their own or capture those of the enemy.
What a buffoon .. he has no idea what feats and peril soldiers throughout history have put upon themselves to defend or capture these "pieces of cloth".

Well in all fairness it’s Fox Sports 1 and ESPN. So Shannon works for Fox.
He is a former NFL player too, and for whatever reason is no longer on ESPN or the NFL.
Nevertheless, this is the cherry on top after the last 7 days. The NFL for the most part died last week. Although it will probably take 10 years before we notice.
It may stick around, but it will never be the same again.
I agree 100% about LBJs great society needs to go. It has wrecked families, destroyed communities and rots the country like a cancer.
Ditto quotas too. The best qualified person should get the job period. That’s one reason why professional sports works so well. The best qualified player gets the job, and there are no quotas. At least at the player level.
Finally, we need to go back to bringing in skilled people. That’s what most other nations and we did until the late 1960s. President Trump is addressing this part.

We are told by liberals we are racist and privileged just for being white. We are told this is so because we do not “understand” the black issues or other minority issues or why things “trigger” them or what ever. When is the last time any liberal- minority or not- tried to understand our beliefs, concerns, issues? Nope, they do not care about that not a bit. Refuse to listen to anything we have to say and try to stop us from saying it by screaming over the top of us or using physical violence to silence us. The truth is they are against anyone that doesn’t agree with them 100% on all their pet issues, which change daily and they are against minorities that don’t agree with them too.
I used to try to understand why some groups were upset until I realized they do not care about me even the tiniest bit, in fact it has come to my attention recently some of those groups actually hate me just for the color of my skin. So I will try to understand and help them as much as they try to understand and help me and not one bit more.
I have never owned a slave, my family did not own slaves- fought for the Union Army. No one alive today has legally been a slave in this country. I have never disrespected or done anything to a black person or any other minority other than be civil to them in my life. Yet I am expected to accept the blame for everything that has, is, or will happen to them? Nope not willing to do that.
They say all of this is not racial on their part only ours. There have been numerous things blamed on all white people. The other day a woman said the only way to fix what is wrong with this country is to get rid of all the white people. Just imagine the outcry if a white person said the same thing but said black instead of white? That is what makes what they are doing all about race. If it is racist if you change the color then it must be racist and offensive to say it about white people too.
They are really after the Constitution!
