A female Georgia police officer was shot and killed Friday and a second officer was injured, prompting an intense manhunt that led to the arrest of two suspects.
Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd indentified the murdered officer as Det. Kristen Hearne, 29. The injured officer was identified as David Goodrich.
Investigators said Ofc. Goodrich was called out to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle Friday morning. He called Hearne for backup after a plate check revealed the vehicle, a Ford Escape, had been stolen out of Tennessee.
As the officers approached the car, a man and a woman walked out of some nearby woods. As the officers began speaking to them, the man opened fire with a handgun.
"It was more or less an ambush," Dodd told reporters. "[The suspect] drew the gun before they knew what happened."

All states should have the death penalty for anyone who intentionally kills a member of law enforcement.
Sickening.
The COPs tend to perform that function.
There are alot of very stupid folks out there.
Blue lives matter = Black lives matter when you start saying that some people are more valuable than others based on skin color or a badge.
ALL lives matter. How about the death penalty for intentionally killing ANYONE?
Married with a three year old son.
Yes, sickening.
Horrible loss for the family.
God Bless them all.

A LEO’s life is precious. But so are the lives of convenience store clerks, and taxi drivers, and pizza delivery people.
So please permit me to say: All states should have the death penalty for anyone who intentionally kills. Period.
when someone takes an innocent life, wrongfully, they forfeit their right to live. Killing those people is the only way to show we value the life of the innocent person they killed.
Why wasn’t he killed while trying to escape?
Why intentionally? Whoever kills a law enforcement officer.
No. Not unless it also applies equally to the rest of us. My life is just as valuable as theirs.
Not only that but their death penalty cases should be fast tracted so that every criminal knows if they kill a cop they will be executed within 2 years.
Amen.
