“I’m fat, I’m black, and I’m very visibly Muslim, this is going to make some people angry, and it’s going to empower some,” Vernon told WWJ Newsradio 950’s Zahra Huber.
Vernon had some doubts before making the video, as she knew that she would receive a lot of negative comments. She changed her mind, and decided she wanted to “show people stuff that’s never been done before, by a person who looks like me. I’m going to be super true, super raw, super high-fashioned with it, to basically make you see it,” said Vernon.
She admitted that she lacked self-confidence, even sometimes hated herself, what she looked like and who she was.
But Vernon came to a realization: “Yeah you’re fat, yeah you’re black, and yeah you’re Muslim, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying to live your life. I think that’s what body positivity is about, about living your best life, in your body that you have NOW.”

I thank you for your courtesy! Some people, this model and many NFL players in particular, fail to realize that they have no job if there is no one interested in them. With this attitude I predict her career to be brief.

This is so sad. She has to tell us she’s fat, black and Muslim? I bet there’s a whole bunch of fat, black Muslim women out there. This is nothing more than a pathetic bid for attention. And, no, she doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable, but I’ll betcha anytime ANYONE looks at her she goes off into some racist rant. Personally, she comes off as a hostile, aggressive and uneducated racist, who thinks being fat, black and Muslim entitles her to special treatment……I avoid this type of person like the plague.
What is there to model when it comes to burkas? Different colors?

Seems to me, if you’re happy, you don’t have to convince others you are. You just are, and folks know it.
I’ve been considerably overweight. five years ago I was pushing 250, and actually going over by a few pound inter-day.
I wasn’t pleased about it. I wasn’t trying to tell folks I was as happy as could be to be fat either.
Now that I weigh 55 pounds less (195), I feel so much better.
When someone tells me they’re 5’ 4”, and weight 275+, I know they spend part of their time VERY uncomfortable.
I am troubled when I hear (mostly women) try to claim they have embraced their weight, and they love who they are.
I say love who you are, fine. Love yourself enough to give yourself the gift of weight loss.
When I weighed the most, I noticed that I had to take in a lot of calories just to maintain the extra weight. I was eating 3000+ calories a day, or I’d lose weight.
Folks don’t have to starve themselves to start losing weight. As you cut your meals back just a little, your stomach shrinks back in size a little. Then you can fill it easier.
At any rate, I want people to really feel as good as they can in their own skin. Makes me happy to see them happy.
In her case I would make an exception to a burka ban ...
Don’t Muslim women get beaten for doing stupid things like that/ She’s going to be sorry if she’s a real Muslim.
