I got to thinking today (that can sometimes be very dangerous) and it dawned on me that FDR is really responsible for the sudden influx of Mexicans in CA.
When FDR ‘interred’ all the Japanese in WWII, the people in LA etal were left without GARDENERS and Mexico offered to fill the void and to this day thousands and thousands of illegal Mexicans are tending lawns all over the USofA.
In the late ‘70s most gardeners were still Japanese. The mass influx of illegals came afterwards.

I remember when I was quite small, in my town the domestics (housekeepers) were black ladies, and the gardeners were elderly Japanese men.
