President Trump, in an exclusive interview with "Fox & Friends," said that NFL owners are afraid to act against their players protesting the national anthem at games across the country.
The NFL is in a box and they have to do something about it, Trump told Fox News' Pete Hegseth, in the interview aired Thursday morning.
I think theyre afraid of their players, if you want to know the truth, Trump said.
In the same interview, Trump also touted the newly released Republican tax reform framework, describing the plan as the largest reduction in terms of dollars in any plan in the history of the country.
The president reiterated that the NFL has a wide range of rules, suggesting the league should apply new rules to those who would protest the anthem by kneeling.
They have rules for everythingyou cant dance in the end zone, you cant wear pink socks relative to breast cancerthey have rules for everything, the president told Hegseth, a Fox & Friends weekend co-host and Fox News political analyst.
He added: Why arent they honoring this country by enforcing a rule thats been in existence for a long time?
But he said, I have so many friends that are owners, and they are in a box.
Trumps comments come after days of back-and-forth criticism with the NFL and its players for disrespecting our country.
Trump suggested that stadiums are losing fans amid the controversy. The stadiums are losingthere are a lot of empty seats, I couldnt even believe it, Trump said.
Trump kicked up a firestorm over the kneeling protests last week, after criticizing NFL players for not standing for the anthem.

LOL!
Great toon.
no fans left could consider replacing the mostly malcontent blacks with athletes of any color that appreciate their opportunity.
Likely would make games more interesting.
Standing w your cap off and right hand over heart facing the flag.
The powers that be at the NFL couldn’t even conceive of this. This is the most arrogant organization ever, and that’s saying something. To them we are all subjects who are insubordinate.
NFK owners need to tell these players that Black men are 6% of the population but murder 42% of cops.
Then they need to tell them that ALL the other races are sick of being taxed at a higher rate to pay for police offices to babysit the black community. Yes, the statistics are available. How many police officers are assigned to the black community vs ALL the other communities combined?
If NFL players insist on lecturing us we just might answer them back... they will NOT like that... The 'people' - their fans - are NOT all white liberal elites who depend on the black vote to stay in power. WE don't 'blindly accept' everything the black community comes up with... because we're NOT dependent on their vote or their skill on the field.. Do black players really want to hear from the fans on 'hands up - don't shoot'... the lie of Ferguson? I think not.
Or ... Take the red pill..
The crime problem in the black community is the fault of the people living in the black community. It's NOT caused by police - it's not caused by ‘the white community’ - it not caused the the KKK, it's caused by democrat values in the black community that keep blacks on the democrat plantation.
The owners are so afraid of the players that they make up a Constitutional right about freedom of speech for employees, just so they don’t have to confront the players.
Well said. What you say about peaceful coexistence being impossible, is proven by this time. Because the more we change things to fix things, the more they come up with another thing to fix, and were already past the point of absurdity, and past the point of things which can be fixed without usurping the rights of others, and past the point of things which can be fixed by human interference.
“Except in this situation, they might learn that the fans should have been the number priority.”
They don’t see us as sober customers, but as addicts to their opiate of the masses. And you can hardly blame them after all fans is short for fanatics.
They figured they got us so hooked on what they’re pushing that we’ll keep buying their stuff.
And you know something the verdict is still out on whether they’re right or wrong.
So far quite a few addicts are abstaining, but will they weaken and get sucked back in?
Theyre liars and hypocrites. They had no respect for freedom of speech when that speech supported the police, or made a positive statement about Christianity, or anything remotely connected to the right or patriotism.
Adding. Disney/ESPN supports the killing of police officers.
You are so right. I am astounded at the angst Ive seen from people who cant bring themselves to just not watch. Its a freaking game! Its tv life, not real life!
I hope Trump presses this one until the end. Perfect issue for him.
Like so many other things , this is being manipulated by individuals who have an axe to grind totally apart from sports. Above all else, white people in public positions dread the accusation of being a “Racist” while black people in public positions fear being called an “Uncle Tom”. This fear of being labeled has allowed an issue that could have been easily handled at the beginning to get out of hand.
Ultimately, this is a problem for the ownership. They have employees who are offending their customers and it is up to them to correct the issue. Just as I would expect a restaurant or any other business providing a service to hold their employees to an acceptable level of conduct, I also have those same expectations for NFL ownership. As a customer, it is not my responsibility to discipline their employees.
The next bargaining agreement comes up at same time as the TV contracts. If the TV ad revenue shrinks, the networks will offer less money, making less available for player contracts. Lets see how the community organizing for the NFLPA goes then.

This is precisely why it's important to take down the NFL on this, to show the power we have, and that we aren't going to take it anymore from the Left. They really believe that Trump voters don't exist. They've controlled the media soup to nuts for years, and it has allowed them to impose their world view on the masses.....But the masses are slowly beginning to wake up.
And he’s right.
