PASCO COUNTY, Fla. - A first grader in Pasco County chose to take a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance, and his mother is upset with how the teacher, the school and the Pasco County school district responded.
At school on Monday, a local first grader went down on one knee during the Pledge of Allegiance, he was then told by his teacher to stand up and stop it, in front of all his classmates. His choice came after countless NFL players took a knee during the national anthem on Sunday, setting off a storm nationwide, sparking discussions in homes across America.
That boy's mother is speaking out because of a text message she received from her son's first-grade teacher about the incident.
The text message read:.....(see inside)

I learned that trick early on as well. Most of my classmates didn’t care though,at least as far as can remember,
But I do remember my mother telling me that the org. was tweaking its stance on the Pledge and we were allowed to stand, the idea being that remaining seated could be mistaken as a sign of disrespect or defiance toward our govt.
Just out of curiosity, were you baptized in the faith?
“”Let me guess the color of the kid and mother.””
You’re right.....
“”The only way the school will let the kid kneel is for a signed note from the parent.””
No - she said, a note would allow them NOT to say the pledge but they were still required to stand by state law.
“”When I was in school the policy was that parents who objected to their kids standing for the Pledge “”
Heck, when I was in school and I probably speak for a lot of FReepers, it was NEVER discussed. It was taught and that was it! In the 40’s and 50’s, it would not have been a problem that came up.
If you won't support the country, you shouldn't get the goodies.
Like most JW kids are, I was pressured into getting baptized around age 17 so that I could get married at age 18
I remember watching quite a few of my friends getting dunked at a district convention for that reason and the pressure
I left home at 18, unbaptized.
Now in my 40’s, I still get the regular return visit from the neighborhood JW’s, courtesy of a phone call from my parents
Right on!
Kneel before the cross.
Our insane society, that thinks there are dozens of different pronouns for homosexual perverts, has everything backwards.
This kneeling BS is so pathetic. Way too many attention whores out there.
Yes and they were all nigglets.
Now, just how old is this "first grader"?
Geez, at 6 years old, the kid should be more concerned with coloring inside the lines, and how to write his name. I somehow don’t think that Social Injustice against his Black Brethren is very high up on his list.
They didn't even give a first name of the mother OR child. So we pretty much know without guessing.
Its not really the first grader’s age. It’s the nfl players emotional age.
Sent an e-mail to his mommy?
I was just wondering if he’s maybe 11, or something.
“This crap will be the death of this country”
Ummm, that’s their intention. Respond accordingly !
