Just one week after many members of the Patriots kneeled during the national anthem, a new report indicates that they will all stand together as a team next time out.
A league source told CSNNEs Gary Tanguay on Tuesday that all Patriots players will stand during the national anthem before next Sundays game against the Carolina Panthers at Gillette Stadium. Many stood and interlocked their arms during the anthem last Sunday before the game against the Texans, while a large portion kneeled.
Teams across the league had similar demonstrations last Sunday, which were mostly a response to controversial comments made by President Donald Trump about NFL players who sit or kneel during the national anthem. The president described such players as sons of bitches during a rally in Alabama last Friday, also declaring that they should be fired for doing so.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft was among many executives across the league to respond to Trumps comments, saying he was deeply disappointed by his remarks. Quarterback Tom Brady also said he disagrees with what Trump said, supporting his teammates right to choose what to do during the anthem. Both Kraft and Brady stood during the anthem last Sunday, while Brady locked arms with Patriots receiver Phillip Dorsett.
The decision of many players to kneel during the national anthem in Foxboro drew a wide range of reactions, some negative. Former Patriots tackle Matt Light said he felt ashamed to be a Patriot for the first time in his life. Fans appeared split on the issue of players protesting the anthem.
If the Patriots do end up standing as a collective group during the national anthem next Sunday, it will send the message of unity that the players were trying to send last weekend.

Yes, Brady stood. When I saw him standing there with his head bowed, I yelled at the TV, “Put your hand on your heart!”
The camera cut away but then came back on Brady, and he did have his heart at that point (guess he heard me....LOL!).
My problem with Brady was (1) His arm was linked with a fellow player, and even more annoying was on Monday, when Brady (2) spoke to the media and criticized his friend President Trump, calling the president’s remarks “divisive.”
Brady then went on and talked about the sacrifices his fellow players have made. (I guess his liberal wife gave him a talking to on Sunday night).
Don’t even get me started on Robert Kraft. He accused his former friend Donald Trump of interjecting politics into sports, when in actuality the players, coaches, owners, and the media are the ones who went political.
You and your fellow servicemen are the ones who made sacrifices, not overpaid football players. Thank-you for your service.
Barn door is all closed up nice - now that the horse is halfway to the next county. :)
After last week, any team that had people kneeling during the anthem should never get any support unless at a minimum other than stopping the dumbness of kneeling, must at the very least change name of the team. Their team name forever lives with players that took a knee.
Former Patriots tackle Matt Light said he felt ashamed to be a Patriot for the first time in his life. Fans appeared split on the issue of players protesting the anthem.Fans appeared split? In the straight-ticket-voting Demwit northeastern United States? Matt Light is the only one who comes off well in this CBS eulogy piece -- all the DNC talking points are touched on, including the fiction that the "protest" in week three was due to President Trump's accurate observation that those who "protest" the national anthem are sons of bitches who should be fired. Thanks BlackFemaleArmyCaptain.
I dpnt care about standing-—BUT NO MORE INTERLOCKING HOMO CRAP.
stand with your hand on your heart and sing. Is that so hard to ask??
I drink Naragansett
I don’t care anymore - it’s too late.
They already demonstrated their true character in first publicly disrespecting our flag and anthem - and all that those symbols stand for. The NFL can all go straight to Hell. I’ll never watch nor support another NFL team ever again. And I was always a die hard Patriots fan, since I’m originally from central MA.
Further ...
1.) It is time to end the “non-profit” tax exempt status the NFL enjoys at our expense. These arrogant, narcissistic, multi-millionaire owners and players must pay their “fair share,” like the rest of us.
2.) It is time to end the taxpayer subsidizing of NFL stadiums. If your city cannot afford to build its own arena, funded by the property taxes it collects, then that’s just too effing bad for you. Perhaps your city officials should learn humility, practice fiscal discipline, and take their fiduciary responsibility more seriously.
3.) Finally, it is time that the NFL’s abusive players, who regularly commit violent criminal acts that would land the rest of us in a jail cell for a very long time, be held to the same legal standard as we “little people.” Just because you excel in athletic ability does not make you superior to the laws we ALL must live under - including the just penalties for breaking them.
NFL = NO FANS LEFT, NO FREE LUNCH, and NO FELONIOUS LOSERS!
Where can I find the actual tweet? I'd like to see it for myself (and use it to correct people who say the President did say that. Thanks!
How many teams were real patriots?
I know two:
the Bears,
the Texans,
Wow,talk about clueless. Jones’ encouraging his team to bow down to the Cop Killing movement enraged everyone and only made the situation worse for him.
And NO this has not run its course, not by a long shot.
You’re lost if you think it’s about any of those things with the owners.
To quote Don Henley, I could be wrong, but I’m not.
No idea of what you believe I am responding to. There is nothing the owners think which is in conjunction with my thinking.
Good info. Thanks!
It wasn’t a tweet. It was a speech in Huntsville, Alabama, on September 22. My point was that the news media put in quotes words that he actually did not say. From the video link below (your punctuation may vary)...
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son-of-a-bitch off the field right now, out. He’s fired. He’s fired!’”
Trump: ‘Get that son-of-a-b**** off the field’

Well I say, If they take a knee, just giveem the FINGER!!
And, bravo NRA, herein: https://youtu.be/z3j1ZKz7PWQ
Now they are a joke....
They can’t be taken serious.....
Gee, zippity-do! Three cheers for the Pats doing what any 6-year old knows to do. Reminds me of Nick Saban’s typical post-game response to a reporter. Win-Lose, the team either did or didn’t do what they’re supposed to do. Roll Tide!
It’s linked arms. Packers and Bears.
Not many fans with linked hands, most had their hands over their hearts and hats off.
The best comment from the comments section.....
“Dear NFL Player:
You graduated high school in 2011. Your teenage years were a struggle. You grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. Your mother was the leader of the family and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over your head and food on your plate.
Academics were a struggle for you and your grades were mediocre at best. The only thing that made you stand out is you weighed 225 lbs and could run 40 yards in 4.2 seconds while carrying a football. Your best friend was just like you, except he didnt play football. Instead of going to football practice after school, he went to work at McDonalds for minimum wage.
You were recruited by all the big colleges and spent every weekend of your senior year making visits to universities where coaches and boosters tried to convince you their school was best. They laid out the red carpet for you. Your best friend worked double shifts at Mickey Ds. College was not an option for him. On the day you signed with Big State University, your best friend signed paperwork with his Army recruiter. You went to summer workouts. He went to basic training.
You spent the next four years living in the athletic dorm, eating at the training table. You spent your Saturdays on the football field, cheered on by adoring fans. Tutors attended to your every academic need. You attended class when you felt like it. Sure, you worked hard. You lifted weights, ran sprints, studied plays, and soon became one of the top football players in the country.
Your best friend was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division. While you were in college, he deployed to Iraq once and Afghanistan twice. He became a Sergeant and led a squad of 19 year old soldiers who grew up just like he did. He shed his blood in Afghanistan and watched young American men give their lives, limbs, and innocence for the USA.
You went to the NFL combine and scored off the charts. Your hired an agent and waited for draft day. You were drafted in the first round and your agent immediately went to work, ensuring that you received the most money possible. You signed for $16 million although you had never played a single down of professional football. Your best friend re-enlisted in the Army for four more years. As a combat tested sergeant, he will be paid $32,000 per year.
You will drive a Ferrari on the streets of South Beach. He will ride in the back of a Blackhawk helicopter with 10 other combat loaded soldiers. You will sleep at the Ritz. He will dig a hole in the ground and try to sleep. You will make it rain in the club. He will pray for rain as the temperature reaches 120 degrees.
On Sunday, you will run into a stadium as tens of thousands of fans cheer and yell your name. For your best friend, there is little difference between Sunday and any other day of the week. There are no adoring fans. There are only people trying to kill him and his soldiers. Every now and then, he and his soldiers leave the front lines and go to the rear to rest. He might be lucky enough to catch an NFL game on TV. When the National Anthem plays and you take a knee, he will jump to his feet and salute the television. While you protest the unfairness of life in the United States, he will give thanks to God that he has the honor of defending his great country.
To the players of the NFL: We are the people who buy your tickets, watch you on TV, and wear your jerseys. We anxiously wait for Sundays so we can cheer for you and marvel at your athleticism.
Although we love to watch you play, we care little about your opinions until you offend us. You have the absolute right to express yourselves, but we have the absolute right to boycott you. We have tolerated your drug use and DUIs, your domestic violence, and your vulgar displays of wealth. We should be ashamed for putting our admiration of your physical skills before what is morally right.
But now you have gone too far. You have insulted our flag, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and our veterans. You are living the American dream, yet you disparage our great country. I am done with NFL football and encourage all likeminded Americans to boycott the NFL .”
