I inadvertently embarrassed my boss’s boss once. I was a problem solver for a company dealing with customer issues. A huge customer had a major problem. My boss and his boss were absolutely convinced it was a defect on our part.
I wasn’t and delved pretty deeply into the problem at the customers plants.
In the end, I was correct and save a 8 figure a year customer at a net cost of $0.00. Two months later there was a reorganization and I was part of it. 18 years down the tube.
The major save using out of the box thinking was a great resume enhancer though and went for toward getting me my current job.
No good deed goes unpunished.
I like to get applicants to present real world examples of how they engaged in issues. I especially enjoy listening to combat vets who have many of those types of experiences to share. Kudos on the accomplishment and surviving the reorg shuffle.
