The United Nations Human Rights Council says Canada should apologize and pay reparations for slavery and other forms of “anti-black racism.” In a report released Monday, the U.N. advisory group stated: “History informs anti-black racism and racial stereotypes that are so deeply entrenched in institutions, policies and practices, that its institutional and systemic forms are either functionally normalized or rendered invisible, especially to the dominant group.”
The British empire had already banned slavery in 1834, and Canada had not become a self-governing dominion until 1867. Prior to its abolition, slavery was never widespread in British North America, although it was extensive in tropical colonies like Jamaica. When support for abolitionism grew in the northern U.S., Canada participated in the Underground Railway that moved escaped slaves out of Canada so that they could not be returned to their masters under the provisions of the Fugitive Slave Act.
Nonetheless, the UN says that contemporary Canadian racism “replicates the historical … conditions and effects of spatial segregation, economic disadvantage and social exclusion. It is important to underline that the experience of African Canadians is unique because of the particular history of anti-black racism in Canada,” suggesting that the government of Canada should “take concrete steps to preserve the history of enslavement and the political, social and economic contributions of African Canadians by establishing monuments in their honour.”
Another one of these concrete steps would be the addition of a new department of African-Canadian affairs to the federal government. The UN council recommends that it resemble the current federal department that serves “Indigenous Peoples.”

The United Nations Human Rights Council is again pandering and asking for money from the "rich" nations. Do they do anything else other than ask or demand handouts with deeply flawed logic to justify their actions.
They want you and many others who have never had anything to do with anti-black racism, to pay.
Are they racketeering thugs who shake down anyone with a dime in his pocket for his or her money?
When I a high school student back in the mid to late 1980s, I knew a few people who went on a field trip to New York City (I did the same a little later in May 1989). In any event, one of the places they went to see was the U.N. Headquarters and when they were there, the tour guide asked to have the Canadian flag pointed out because they themselves could not remember what it looked like. Seems the same intellect level is still running that place, eh?
Take off with your paying slavery reparations, eh?

The country wasn’t independent until decades after slavery was abolished; this is just gibsmedat BS. It is a global phenomenon.
Setting up a department like that of Indian affairs is just creating more pets for Canadians to house, clothe, feed, and pretend to school. We have that already here in the US as well; American taxpayers are involuntarily saddled with the costs of tens of millions of preferred minority pets.
How hypocritical.
The UN supports slavery, supports slave states,
protects slave states, and many of UN workers have
slaves — and keep them in closets in the US.
American society, through it’s Democrat politicians keeps a “Pet Class” that it “houses, clothes, feeds, entertains, and pretends to educate” for the sole purpose of extracting there political support in the election process. The special people in that class are now turning on their masters because the identity politics that have given them victimization have soured. We are now experiencing the first stages of the terror that burned out the French Revolution.
Didn’t the underground railroad transport slaves to Canada for protection?
I think the fact that blacks in the UK and Canada have higher arrest rates than whites though they were never enslaved their (barring the rare Quebec status symbol) is evidence that black subculture is the problem everywhere, not everyone else’s.

If black crime rates are going up in Canada along with the endorsement of rap culture and black identity, then we have a cause - black identity and rap culture instead of bourgeois values of work, education, marriage. This also identifies the solution as a cultural correction, but liberal identity politics forbids that.
It is interesting that the biggest organization of slave dealers on earth, Moslems being historically and currently the biggest slaveholders and dealers in the world, is demanding reparations from Canada.

Obviously, while the UN might have hosted President Trump, they didn’t listen to a word he said.
Check the shelf pull date on the UN. I think it is expired.
