A Senate poll released less than 24 hours before polls open Tuesday finds that former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore still has a substantial lead over U.S. Sen. Luther Strange in the Republican primary runoff.
It also indicates that President Trump's visit to Huntsville for a campaign rally for Strange did not give the president's preferred candidate a noticeable boost in the eyes of voters.

It sounds like if Strange doesn’t win, the Republicans will help the Democrat against Moore?
Trump needs to know he serves us and we back him. He doesn’t direct us.
4D chess. All Trump said was if Big Luther got elected he would be the tallest man in the Senate and he may have made a mistake. Wink. Wink.
Lord, please let it be so. I despise the campaign that McConnell has ran against Roy Moore and all the money spent against him. Mitch is the epitome of the establishment and he makes me want to barf. Ryan is no better.
The Turtle and his merry band of lobbyists will......bet on it. That SOB needs to retire, like, yesterday. I don’t trust him NOR do I trust Ryan among many others in the Republican Party.
The Donald will lose face and the lib-scum will gloat. Wake up Donald...ooops too late.
“Hey Mitchell are you happy with the way Rove spent $9,000,000 for you in Alabama?”
Thanks for reminding me about Rove. He is another establishment bastard I despise.
Trumpinistas are too smart to fool with candidates who are not about MAGA.
Maybe in California...the strategy of GOP-pretenders helping the Democrat works. In Alabama? No...people will be amused by the suggestion. I will predict a fairly election turnout for Moore and Kennedy (the Democrat)....it’s a non-election year.
I don’t think that Trump really wants Strange to win. I think that he is “backing” him as a way of currying favor wuth/support from the GOPe. I believe that he wants Moore, but doesn’t wish to say so.
It worked in Mississippi.
This Evangelical network business in Alabama is tied awful hard onto the GOP. It’s probably 50-percent of the GOP enthusiasm in the state. Country-by-county, with the exception of the ‘belt’ around Birmingham...it’s all GOP.
Trump isn’t going to lose face, it is a deep Red State.
It sure did and I hope the people of Alabama see through the nonsense.
Trump just pretended to help him, like McConnell pretends to help Trump.
Reminds me of the Soviet joke - They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.
Seems to me Trump knew this ahead of time and played it perfectly.
Can say he went to bat for Strange and Strange loses anyway.
You know that. I know that. But I want you to pay attention to the media when Moore wins. Public perception is face and the media will do what it does, and attack Trump over this. They will say the people are turning against him. That he has lost his base. I could write the articles myself and I'm sure they are already written just waiting for some pencil neck to hit the send button.
Yes, his backing the wrong horse will be used against him. Watch and see. Red state or not.
