While the NFL led protests against President Donald Trump's recent railing against NFL player Colin Kaepernick and other players kneeling during the "Star Spangled Banner," NASCAR remained standing.
The national anthem played without protests at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series pre-race festivities at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, USA Today reports. Athletes and crew, including numerous African-Americans, stood as normal.
Many NASCAR owners spoke out against the protests from other sports.
When asked what he would do if one of his employees protested during the anthem, team owner Richard Childress replied that he would "get you a ride on a Greyhound bus when the national anthem is over. I told them anyone who works for me should respect the country we live in. So many people have gave their lives for it. This is America."
Richard Petty, a team owner who won a seven championships as a driver, also said there would be consequences for those who didn't respect the anthem.
"Anybody that don't stand up for that ought to be out of the country. Period," Petty said. "If they don't appreciate where they're at ... what got them where they're at? The United States."

America knows no king.
There I fixed it.
Yay, NASCAR!!!!
Don’t be so quick: I knew it. Saw this on Facebook around lunchtime.
Guess Junior ain’t so hot after all.

Yes, that’s it. I knew they tried to “bend the PC knee” recently, could only remember the battle flag part.
NASCAR is pretty good but still subject to human frailty and cowardice.
That’s right. Divide and conquer. Just dont buy Dale Earnhardt Jr stuff-—he supports the knee traitors.
Can I just do the Roulette thing and put money on both?
I say: “If they take a knee, give’em the FINGER!!”
I know the owner was in the service once upon a time. I wonder how many of the players were?
I see where Earnhardt Jr sided with the NFL. I hope his sponsors withdraw.
The Left is doing this, and they hope to make a statement to divide America even more. What they don’t realize is that more people will be flocking to Trump.
I LIKE it!
The silent majority of 2016 is watching and more are being added.
Except for Earnhardt, jr. I hope that jackhole crashes in every future race.
I think I’ll dump Thugball and watch Nascar from now on.
Good for NASCAR!
And think about it — these players are choosing terrorists over pattiotism. BLM is a terrorist organization. I question those players’ citizenship. Best I can tell, they renounced it and affiliate themselves with a fringe subversive group that blocks ambulances during riots.
I saw a woman wearing a t-shirt yesterday.
“Stand for the flag, kneel for the cross”.
I say, If they take a knee, giveem the FINGER!!

Spare me. NASCAR is getting more and more PC every year. There are a handful of black crew members. If even one of them decided to take a knee, NASCAR owners and drivers will prostrate themselves quicker than your most lily-livered NFL owner.
Yep.
No, I was a NASCAR technical inspector for five years during the height of Dale’s career. I left the year before his death. Dale was a bit of a hothead at the start of his career but eventually realised that it was counterproductive. He eventually mastered his temper, became a consistent driver and actually was one of the best drivers when it came to conserving his car for the finish of the race. There were a lot of young drivers that tried to push Dale to build their rep. Dale put up with a lot of crap. NASCAR management finally had to step in and squat on the “young guns” to bring it to an end. Dale never once complained about this situation. I think it was because he recognised a lot of himself when he was young in the younger drivers. If you have access to NASCAR staff or drivers who were around in those days ask them what they thought of Dale. Cale Yarbrough was a nasty piece of business as we’re a few others. Most of the drivers were pretty considerate but wouldn’t stand being pushed around. That’s not to say that there weren’t grudges and life-long feuds because there certainly were a few of them. But the officials usually did a good job of keeping things under control. Death comes quickly at 200 mph if you’re dickin around. I finally gave up tech inspection as the travel was not conducive to raising a family. Left NASCAR and went to work for the other big “N” organisation - NASA. I could tell you hours of great stories from both outfits. I was pretty lucky in my choice of careers. Had some wonderful experiences in both.
