“This was prior to the National Anthem.
They stood for the National Anthem.”
A difference without a distinction.
Is Jerry Jones going to make on his promise to fire them? Or is this just a way to game the threat? This was a blatant violation of the players’ Code of Conduct and the CBA.
Either way, I am done with NFL! Cowboys were the last ones I had any faith in.
sorry I mean “kneel”, hope that clarifies. I am saying even though you think the penguins are going to respect the office some won’t and that will be the story. I hope I’m wrong, but as a caps fan, I don’t trust them penguins. :-)
The owners showing solidarity with the dirt bags was one horrendous miscalculation. Most of America is pissed. Many could dismiss a few bad apples on their team when they felt the team did not support them. Once the team ownership endorses this bullshit, it’s over for many. Now you look at the entire team in a negative light. The owners got some bad intel. They should have just STFU. The NFL will discover their intel produced weapons of self destruction.
TEXAS IS A MESS.
So then what is the knee for? Why do they wait to do it until right before the game, when all of us have to see it? The answer, in case you don't know, is because it's political, and they want us to see it.
NFL games are sold as "entertainment." But having political speech shoved in my face is not entertainment!
If they want to "take a knee" as an expression of their First Amendment rights, then they have six other days per week during the season, and all seven days off season, to do so without my having to witness it. And they should do so because:
THEIR POLITICAL SPEECH IS NOT ENTERTAINMENT FOR ME!
I’ve said it more than once; I’ll say it again, the NFL is destined for historical records of sports in the Twentieth Century. It’s a “was.”
Maybe fans should start booing loudly. Or do Trump cheers.
That should be entertaining.
What was the purpose of the Cowboys taking a knee? It seems it was done to show solidarity with those that are taking a knee during the National Anthem...so even if the Cowboys did it before the anthem- it still seems like a slap in the face to America. So what is the difference between taking a knee during the National Anthem and taking a knee before to show you are supporting those that do so?
Liberals are running around posting on social media that people are just too stupid to understand why these athletes are doing this. The funny thing is I have heard several reasons.
Most seem to say it is because of “racial injustice” protesting blacks killed by police, but some say it is because the National Anthem itself mentions slavery and Francis Scott Key owned slaves? Others claim to be doing it because President Trump said those taking a knee during the National Anthem should be fired. A new reason I heard today is a black woman said our flag never did one thing for black people and their freedom.
I do not care why they are doing it, what they are doing is disrespecting our country, our flag, our anthem. I cannot and will not ever support that.
Texas is now California 2.0
They should have left the Union in the 80’s.
Too late now.
Kids are starting to do it at their games, and schools say they have the right to do so.
If Al Qeda plays the Cowboys I am rooting for Al Qeda.
It is happening at schools all over the country, school boards are meeting to decide what to do about it and every one I have read about so far has said they support it!
Teaching children about respect for our country, flag, and National Anthem used to go along with teaching good citizenship and good sportsmanship on the field or in an arena.
Coaches/owners used to make pro players dress nice, toe the mark, and keep their nose clean. Everyone understood they were role models for young people. It seems they still are role models, the rest has been thrown out.
This is just as much about those of us that voted for Trump as it is about Trump. In reality this is about all conservatives whether or not they voted for Trump.
“Culture is upstream of politics.” ~Andrew Breitbart
Pollywog, sargon was saying, “big deal” to the difference they were trying to make betwixt kneeling during the anthem or before. Hold fire.
Winter is coming?
one that looks nice...
Sparklite, when this "blows over" the damage will have been done, and the enemy will take the battle to another front. When our national sport is corrupted by left wing and racial politics, and it is, they will seek to infiltrate and destroy another American institution.
That's why this is important. We can no longer capitulate on the battlefield of culture. In surrendering the field, we lose other things with it. We lose the family, education, the media, marriage. We ultimately lose the constitution.
We must draw a line in the sand and say, enough. You will not take our national sport. Yes, it seems trivial in the larger scheme of things. We can dismiss it as unimportant and walk away from the fight. But we have done that since the sixties and we are losing America. This cannot stand. It's a simple thing to stop taking an action. Our boycotting of the NFL/NBA sends a powerful message. We must.
Winter is coming.
Sparklite, the fact remains, the taking of the knee is a symbolic gesture that makes a statement. It doesn't matter if it was during the anthem or not. Some psycho black Politian today took a knee in Congress. It wasn't during the anthem. Taking a knee is the new "hands up don't shoot."
We are naïve fools to believe that this gesture, because it wasn't during the actual anthem, is any different than Kaepernick's. It is a statement supporting the condemnation of America and it's people as a racist and oppressive.
These are the facts and 97 percent of scientists agree. The science is settled. Don't be a science denier.
