You think private schools are expensive, price day care. That's what has my friends with kids up in arms.

Me either. My parents scrimped and sent me to catholic grade school and high school and I went to a private university. They never expected the government to pay for it.
Well aware of daycare - thankfully, the grandsons were taken care of by other grandmother til pre-k.
I was #5 of 7 after 4 boys - Catholic university was “suggested” by the brothers. I was the first to graduate. Dad paid for all of us while grades were passing.
