Well aware of daycare - thankfully, the grandsons were taken care of by other grandmother til pre-k.
I was #5 of 7 after 4 boys - Catholic university was “suggested” by the brothers. I was the first to graduate. Dad paid for all of us while grades were passing.
My dad gave the same deal to both my sister and myself - he paid 100% of the first year, 75% of the second year, 50% of the third year, and 25% of the final year. That way we had skin in the game and appreciated what the education cost. I was able to get enough financial aid that I didn't need all his money for the my undergrad and was able to save it for grad school. And he was right, paying those tuition bills at a private college was an eye-opener and gave me all the incentive I needed to keep my grades up and the financial aid flowing.
