Alejandro Villanueva is an American hero. He's a West Point graduate, former Army Ranger, served 3 tours in Afghanistan, recipient of the Bronze Star for valor and Bronze Star for overseas service. He also plays football for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over the weekend, the Steelers decided they would remain inside the locker room during the National Anthem. Every single member of the Pittsburgh Steelers hid in the locker room -- except for one. Alejandro Villanueva.

He placed his hand over his heart to honor the country he loves - and in doing so he stood in defiance of the National Football League.
He did what any patriot would've done. He did what any veteran would've done.
But instead of honoring Villanueva's decision, the head coach rebuked the decorated war veteran.
"Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation," Tomlin told reporters at a post-game press conference. "We were gonna be respectful of our football team."
Villanueva had a choice: either respect the football team or respect America. He chose America.
I salute and honor Alejandro Villanueva. He demonstrated on Sunday that in the National Football League he is a man among boys, a hero among cowards.
Apparently, the players were so fearful of being triggered by American patriotism they chose to sequester themselves inside a designated safe space.
And on Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago, the Steelers were conspicuously absent as tens of thousands of football fans rose to their feet to honor America and our brave fighting men and women.
"We will not be divided by this," Tomlin told the Post-Gazette. We've got a group of men in there that come from different socioeconomic backgrounds, races, creeds, ethnicities, (and) religions."
Hey Tomlin....your team does NOT DESERVE RESPECT!!
I can’t read enough about this brave HERO war vet. With 3 tours in Afghanistan under his belt, those wussy footballers and their “let’s take a knee” attitude won’t scare him at all. Love it!
He’s going to be harassed mercilessly by the black guys on that team. The fact that he’s Army will be even more to enrage them.
They’re all hate filled anti-American thugs who fit the Aaron Hernandez mold more then the Villanueva mold. He knows it but he’s gotta play with them.
Better if the Steelers franchise gets rid of ALL of them EXCEPT him and starts over.
Kinda true right now for the entire NFL.
They called him “The Giant” before Sunday.
Now he is truly larger than life.
"they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mahometan, the Hindoo, and Infidel of every denomination."

How "infidels of every denomination" are protected:
“Hes going to be harassed mercilessly by the black guys on that team.”
This may be true, but I have serious doubts that honorable war vet will give a rat’s arse what they think.
Alejandro Villanueva is a real American Hero..God Bless him..NONE of those scum bag NFL players who disrespect our flag and our country would spend two seconds in the hell holes Villanueva has seen in Afghanistan
He won an appointment to West Point.
That requires academic excellence and a well rounded portfolio in high school—which not many are able to achieve.
His major was Engineering, now working on an MBA.
He would do just fine without the NFL.
“NONE of those scum bag NFL players who disrespect our flag and our country would spend two seconds in the hell holes Villanueva has seen in Afghanistan”
I’m sure you’re correct. And if for some reason any of them DID wind up in a hold over there, they’d need more crying tissue that old Anthony Weiner did in court!
“He won an appointment to West Point. That requires academic excellence....”
Wonder how many of the losers who took the knee barely made it through college with C- and D+ grades? OR, more likely got a pass on many classes so they could continue to play.
Tom Brady said that what President Trump said was divisive.
What Tom and his ilk fail to see is that the Kaepernick kneel is what is divisive. It is not divisive to stand at attention for the national anthem. It is courtesy and respect for all who have fought to defend that flag. Yes, mostly white folks for sure, but many black folks as well. Thousands and thousands of those folks paid the ultimate price with their lives. Is that divisive, Tom?
Forget the country Tom. Look to your own NFL rule book. You taunt another player or show too much celebration , or dont stand for the anthem you are supposed to be penalized. Which is more divisive Tom, taunting another player or not taunting? Do you condone ridiculing your teammate for a botched play? No, that is divisive. Yet you can not allow your fellow teammates and fans to honor their country by standing for the national anthem. Instead you encourage a minority of your teammates to taunt them and their beliefs.
Spoiled rotten hypocrites, all.
The clarion call. Is there no MAN to stand for the flag? Yes. He is Alejandro Villanova.
Not a lot of STEM graduates in the NFL. I would guess that most can’t read their contracts without an agent reading it to them.

Why? You think they respect his position?
You don’t understand that they’re gangsters, nothing more.
As for being afraid of him, no...they know he’s outnumbered.
Gangs are like that.
