John McCain has once again shown he has no loyalty to his party, his friends, or to his voters. In likely torpedoing what may prove Republicans last effort to rid the country of ObamaCare, McCain evinced the nostalgia of an old man for better times. He wants the Senate to operate as it once did, with bipartisan comity and regular order. Yes, and Id like to return to the days when kids were addicted to twilight stickball rather than video games.
Those gentler times are long gone. What we have now is a bitterly divided Congress, and country. Democrat leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi have vowed total resistance to the agenda of President Trump and his GOP allies. In particular, they will never join in dismantling ObamaCare, the lone achievement of Trumps predecessor, even as it falls apart. As CNN reported, Due to Senate rules, any attempt to repeal and replace ObamaCare will need 60 votes after the end of this month. That is an impossibility in the current Senate. The game has changed; McCain needs to adapt, or retire.
McCain of course used the same excuse for blocking the so-called skinny repeal of the Affordable Care Act some months ago. That bill was ill-constructed and unpopular, a Hail Mary effort to fulfill seven years of GOP promises. This time is different; Cassidy-Graham is a worthy effort to pare back a bloated and inefficient federal government, sending health care dollars back to the states. Philosophically and practically, the bill crafted by his best friend Lindsey Graham is appealing; McCains defection is inexcusable.

I’m convinced the ONLY reason McTurd is doing this is to screw Trump.
What’s taking that brain tumour so long?!?!?
Finish Him!
McCain is angry. Thought he was Graham’s best friend.
All McCain cares about are good press clippings.
“McCain is angry. Thought he was Grahams best friend”
They probably have a deal worked out.
McShamey is an expert at screwing people. It’s what he does best.
He does it to feel important
“Will no one rid us of this meddlesome Senator?”
All he cares about is the fellow in the mirror.
I think Graham knows the writing is on the all for his bill.
He can run around and say he tried.
Arizona? Are the elections rig or are they really stupid?
Arizona? Are the elections rigged or are they really stupid?
Lyn Ted joined McCain!
I never understood the guy’s popularity in the first place. His record from Vietnam has some very troubling aspects. He was a thief in the mid-eighties, anyone here old enough to remember the Keating five and the S & L scandal. If I recall correctly he had his oar in the water with the Democrats then also. His disdain of G W was an embarrassment to the entire party, his campaign a farce. The party should have just admitted that he couldn’t win a cuppa doll at the balloon pop and saved their money. McCain? Not impressed then or now.
ex-pow, bitter failure throughout his entire military and political career, mccain will die a traitor to his constituents.
Defection - a good word to summarize the life of traitor mccain
McCain is a genuinely evil man. His entire life is steeped in corruption. He is the perfect example of a disreputable cur.
Agreed. In this case it is a malignant tumor because it is so idle.
