Maher: Obamacare ‘Was a Redistribution of Income’ Should Have Said ‘That’s Exactly What We’re Doing’

During the online “Overtime” segment of Friday’s edition of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that Obamacare did redistribute income and President Obama should have said so.

Maher said, “Obamacare is not putting us into the red. No. It’s actually making a little money. Because, you know, it was a redistribution of income. When they accused him that, he should have said, ‘Yeah. F*ck yeah. Exactly. That’s exactly what we’re doing. We’re taking money from people who will never miss it, and giving it to poor people who desperately need it. Sue me.'”

Actually, the money was taken from those who had and given to crony capitalist insurance companies. The poor never saw cash in hand and they can’t afford the deductibles either.

A woman on one of my Yahoo groups was saying how much Obamacare had helped her. This is a woman who appreciates getting cheap healthcare while she brags online about the overseas vacations she and her family take and the expensive wedding she put on for her daughter. My point is, the public is supporting her lifestyle while she enjoys cheap government healthcare.

If I could write it, I'd flat-rate the fed income tax, eliminate most exemptions, eliminate AMT, but set the level of personal exemption at 30 grand. I'd also eliminate the tax exempt status for lobbying organizations.
