Stephen Curry went to bed Friday night thinking he and the rest of the Golden State Warriors would convene Saturday for their first day of practice to decide whether they would be making the NBA champions traditional White House visit when they travel to Washington in February.
He woke up to 20 text messages telling him that choice had been made for him, thanks to President Trumps tweet that Currys White House invitation had been rescinded.
Its surreal, to be honest, Curry said after that practice had concluded at the teams facility in downtown Oakland. I dont know why he feels the need to target certain individuals, rather than others.
I have an idea of why, but its kind of beneath a leader of a country to go that route. Thats not what leaders do.
In between Currys meeting with the media Saturday afternoon and his impassioned defense of why he would be voting against a possible White House visit 24 hours earlier, plenty had happened. The combination of President Trump both attacking NFL players for failing to stand during the national anthem at a political rally in Alabama on Friday night and his tweets about Curry and those same NFL players Saturday morning had unleashed a torrent of responses condemning his actions from the sports world.
One of the first to speak up was LeBron James, who called Trump a bum in a tweet and later posted a video on Uninterrupted with his expanded thoughts on the matter.

Yet they can "be" whatever they want to "be"...to score tribal "victim" power points.
The Washington Post lied in their headline. When they lie so blatantly about something so obvious, it throws all their other reporting into question. The only person disinvited was the person who was not only not coming, but the person who was publicly trashing the President and going so far as to try to convince others not to go. Trump’s response was common sense, “If you hate me that much, then I’ll rescind the invitation.” I feel like that’s just human nature. If Steph invited someone to an event and they acted that way, he’d rescind his invitation too.
I’m going to enjoy saying this Russian/Ukrainian play on word for years to come: “well, Chornaya, Chornaya, Chornaya” (Crimea river).
Trump is teaching America how to be great again.
these NBA idiots think the world loves them when in reality it 20,000 fans half of which are drunk.
I’m always amazed that pro athletes are now experts on “what leaders do”.
From a 2912 report on Curry and Davidson:
He enrolled in three classes this semester: a class on the history of education, a medical sociology class, and todays qualitative research class. The research class is a precursor for Currys thesis. He is planning to write on the relationship between basketball players and tattoos. He has already polled about five players and drawn a surprising correlation. Nearly all the players1 said they wouldnt have as many tattoos if they werent in the NBA spotlight, and they certainly wouldnt be as visible, because they believed it would damage their prospects at other employment.
But he pulled that little rug out from beneath you!
Admit it - you sanctimonious little shits were going to make a big statement and wow all your buds by refusing to go, anyway. He just helped with your "decision" (and took it right away from you, which is why you're so upset, right?)
Reminds me of an old friend I had (before he died). He told a few of us he and his wife were grilling steaks the next Friday and was inviting a few of us. One guy told him he wouldn't be able to tell him until a few hours before the event "in case something came up". My friend told him there was no reason to worry about it because something had just come up and the guy and his wife would not be dining on his steaks next Friday.....
Sometimes it doesn’t pay to dither, especially upon controversial matters, because decisions will be made for you, Mr. Curry.
Remember that.
Curry is bleeding from wherever.
Good point. Look at Obama.
Youre completely right. Trump has done this before by not attending an event for example at the Kennedy Center when it was clear that certain individuals who were supposed to be celebrated were not coming. Why put yourself in a position to be lectured to buy individuals who are pompous selfish jerks who hate America?
Its surreal, to be honest
or
Its surreal to be honest
I this explains why truth is so foreign to him.
If he's a Christian, he's probably one of the ones who tries to tell people what God would do or what Jesus would do about fornication, abortio, gay marriage, illegal immigration, etc, etc.
Stephen Curry and his team drew first blood, not Trump.
What I don’t understand, is why guys like Stephen Curry have to make a political statement over something as mild and benign as an invitation to meet the President at the White House.
You can express your disagreement with him in other venues... why politicize something like this?
Going and taking a picture with Trump does not mean that you agree with him...
