President Trump turned on the NFL commissioner this evening, after Roger Goodell spoke out about the president condemning players who kneel in protest during the national anthem and calling on team owners to fire those players.
In a tweet, Trump said Goodell is "trying to justify the total disrespect certain players show to our country."

As a red blooded American male suburbanite I have long been in the awkward and politically incorrect position of being bored with national league sports.
My dad, one of my brothers, and a couple of my sons (all of whom I love dearly) are WAY into following sports, so I certainly don’t see sports fanaticism as a character flaw.
Yet, I have to admit that there’s something about it that seems a bit unhealthy, obsessive, disproportionate.
I suppose any time two people don’t share the same level of enthusiasm for something - there is a tendency for the less enthused one to think the other is obsessed, and the enthused one to think the other is apathetic.
But a hundred times a week I’m asked for details about a game and when I say I don’t know, I get a mind boggled look, as if to say WTF? You aren’t glued to the screen? You aren’t a repository of relevant statistics? You don’t have a ready analysis of team dynamics that you can articulate complete with the appropriate jargon? You won’t be devastated if one thing happens or ecstatic if another thing happens?
“No, I wasn’t watching” I say, to their amazement. If I were to say I was reading about Rocket Man, and wondering if he’d do something crazy, they might look bewildered and wonder which professional athlete I’m referring to.
Oh well.
I, for one, wouldn’t mind one bit if these spoiled brat millionaire athletes went too far with their smug comments and obnoxious behavior and did something to piss off the fans - break the spell they apparently have over sports fanatics.
Nice to have a President again.

“Some owners, at least, have decided to push back against President Trump and angry fans.”
smart! learn how to turn angry fans into angry ex-fans in a single easy lesson!
Enough already of the disrespect against our country. Don’t buy the tickets. Leave the game right after the National Anthem is played if any players take a knee or sit it out. Boycott the sponsors. And fire any players who continue to show disrespect.
The whole country is not guilty.
Damn straight.
As far as I'm concerned, if the league, the broadcasters, etc., want to allow players to vent or opine in post game interviews, sports shows, on You Tube, and so on, fine. We'll see what happens to the viewership.
During the playing of the National Anthem is NOT the time or place, nor even relevant.
It’s been a rough several days for me. (Parent care.) Sometimes, when that’s been the case, and if not too busy (happens fairly often, too), I’ll relax by catching at least a little bit of Sunday Night Football, esp. if the game is a good one.
This evening, unless I hear that the owners of the opposing teams have come out supporting Trump’s position, I will deliberately avoid that option. This weekend is “National Hunting and Fishing Days”. I think I’ll go fishing for a couple hours.
Watch baseball instead.
I think it’s a bit broader than that, although I don’t think they’d mind if the NFL stopped playing the anthem.
If I understand him correctly, the primary reason Kapernick started taking a knee was to raise awareness of his concern that the USA oppresses black people.
I just happened to catch the nfl fox sunday show its all they talked about I love bradshaw but he towed the company line my love is waning
Oh, I’m sure the same are/were quick to write the check back for the taxpayer % of their little playground-fiefdoms, right??
Has ANY city brought up any funding termination plans? The Anthem isn’t just ‘here’ or ‘there’, but the whole of country. Don’t like it, sure, you can kneel...but don’t expect the 1/2+ you just ‘dissed’ to pony up for your stunt\ideals.
Time to remove the NFLs tax exempt status benefit.
That should be easy to pass.

It went away a couple years ago.
Trump should call up Roger and all the owners and say “ Good luck, The DHS is not providing any security for the Super Bowl this year. Your on your own. And oh ya, Forget the military fly by.
Yes.
