US survivalists stock up as disasters roil planet; nuclear war threat looms
By Reuters - September 23, 2017 @ 10:01am
NEW YORK: Two earthquakes, three monstrous hurricanes and the North Korean missile crisis have US survivalists convinced that the end of the world is nigh. And they are clearing store shelves to stock bunkers in anticipation of Earth's final chapter.
Sales of freeze-dried food, gas masks and other survival equipment have spiked in recent weeks as so-called "preppers" get ready to ride out any disaster, whether natural or man-made.
Inspiring their actions: images of people helpless against floodwater from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria and island towns obliterated by their fury. People buried in rubble after earthquakes rattled Mexico. Footage of North Korea's missiles blazing into the sky.
"It's been a very busy six or seven weeks here sales tripled practically overnight," said Keith Bansemer, vice president for marketing for Idaho-based My Patriot Supply, an online store catering to prepper needs.
"It all started when North Korea shot the missile that was capable of reaching the US. Then the hurricanes and two Mexican earthquakes increased sales from California and Cascadia in the Northwest," he said, referring to the corner of the country where many survivalists have settled because of its relative isolation.

And `fish’ antibiotics.
My brother has them.
Me too. For emergency only.
If you get them from a reputable company, same-same. Seems weird to take guppy medicine, but if Zoombies are camped out at Walgreens and you’ve got red streaks going up your arm, whatever works.
Shhh: They are already trying to make them Prescription (by a licensed Veterinarian) Only.
They were cheap enough, and they work same same.
I have not used them, but he has.
“By Reuters...”
Reuters is the last gasp effort by British fascists to keep alive Hitler’s Ministry of Propaganda.
I have for years. Same O, Same O. Get'em while you can.
A better option would be to get out of major blue cities where the criminal/welfare class hang out.
I’ll share info with FRiends, but yeah, you’re right: “If it moves, regulate it.”
The only one that I stay away from is the Doxycycline (bird antibiotic). It can make you molt ... seriously I’ve read that if it expires and you take it, it can really mess you up.
The cillins and others, if you use a little common sense could save your life from, say, septicemia in an emergency. I keep mine sealed, stored safely.
Remember amoxocillin (the “pink stuff”) from little childrens’ ear infections?
Big Pharmacy is arguing that some people are self-medicating now and have no idea about the right medicine or dosage. Maybe they’re right.
Bless their pointed heads, Big Pharm. They’re always so concerned about us plebs, ya know./
Watch The Walking Dead TV show?
`T-Dog’ slices his forearm on some car sheet metal.
Merle Dixon’s `clap’ pills save his bacon!
What are they? Is there a name? Seems everyone is scared to say it. Tetracycline works well as a broad spectrum antibiotic.
“Doxycycline is an antibiotic that is used in the treatment of a number of types of infections caused by bacteria and protozoa. It is useful for bacterial pneumonia, acne, chlamydia infections, early Lyme disease, cholera and syphilis. It is also useful for the treatment of malaria when used with quinine and for the prevention of malaria. Doxycycline can be used either by mouth or intravenously.”
Have you noticed that recently drug manufacturer TV commercials have started showing all the dire consequences/side effects that can occur from taking their product?
“Sales of freeze-dried food, gas masks and other survival equipment have spiked in recent weeks...”
This might also be due to the sales all these companies, particularly the freeze-dried foods, have been running until recently.
All you fish antibiotic people, be sure to look up the dosages (mg/kg/day, etc), write it down, and put that with some kind of measure (measuring spoon, scale, etc) in the same box as the medicine. An adult aspirin is 325mgs. And don’t unseal the bottles to peek inside, either.
Forgive me, what is the point? Missed it.
Ping.
Re-frame your question, por favor. I thought you wanted to know about a particular antibiotic.
Yes, tetracycline is very good but I haven’t seen a fish equivalent, or at least not called by its name.
“Have you noticed that recently drug manufacturer TV commercials have started showing all the dire consequences/side effects that can occur from taking their product?”
I LOVE them, and laugh all the way through them
Things like “Could cause swelling of the throat that may lead to death”.
The side effects are worse than what they are trying to cure.
Hysterical.
.
I have been ‘stocked up’ (In all areas) for a long time up here. At least go down swingin’ if the SHTF. I hope to heck it never happens but......
