President Donald Trump criticized NFL players who lodge protests during the pregame national anthem, saying Friday night that he wished those players would be released and encouraging fans who are offended to walk out of stadiums.
Speaking at a political rally in Huntsville, Alabama, Trump said: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now. Out. He's fired! He's fired!"
Trump said the protests, which became public last year when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled for a preseason national anthem, are "hurting the game."
Trump didn't mention Kaepernick or any other NFL player specifically during the speech. The QB opted out of his contract with the 49ers during the offseason and has not been signed by a new team since.
"The only thing you could do better," Trump said, "is if you see it, even if it's just one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee things will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave. Not the same game anymore, anyway."
Trump went on to say referees are "ruining the game" by calling 15-yard penalties for "beautiful" tackles. He also said that NFL ratings are down "massively, massively" because people prefer watching him. NFL ratings dropped eight percent in 2016 compared to 2015.
An NFL spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what Trump said.
It's always a great game, though.

Since he is on a roll, he can tell the media when they attack this statement, “You SOBs never said a word when a man with his nose in the air, walked among those giant columns in 2008.” Say it Sarah style.
Our statues and our school names and our street signs need to be preserved.
And, it immediately, fired Hank Williams Jr. and removed his song from MNF for making controversial comments about the President.
Jemele Hill makes similar comments about Trump and doesn't even get a suspension.

Trump owned a football team once, in the USFL, the NY/NJ Generals. Guess we know how he’d handle this stuff if he still did.

Yeah, let’s see how the NFL and ESPN make it “catering” to the 13% of our population that is Black, and among the least wealthy ethnic groups we have. Face it, without White bucks and patronage, the NFL will finish circling the bowl and drop into the sewer. And they should not expect Hispanics to fill in, because their “football” is soccer.
Yet Jerry Jones says your out on your ass if you won’t stand for the anthem.
Texans have nothing to be ashamed of. I’m near Seattle, and I’m ashamed the Seahawks haven’t put a stop to this nonsense.

The NFL is Doomed. Millions turn it off and dont care anymore. Let hitters hit— sign injury waivers or quit. I am through watching watered down football and I hate kapernick’s guts and anyone that doesn’t.

Why is the NFL so racist against Asians and Latinos? It’s all Black guys and White guys. It does not reflect the beautiful multi culti rainbow that America has become.
When will we see some Punjabi tight ends, some Guyanese quarterbacks, some Korean defensive backs, and some Peruvian half backs?
It’s like the NFL is stuck in some unenlightened era when there was no Gay marriage or transgender bathrooms.
