President Donald Trump criticized NFL players who lodge protests during the pregame national anthem, saying Friday night that he wished those players would be released and encouraging fans who are offended to walk out of stadiums.
Speaking at a political rally in Huntsville, Alabama, Trump said: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a b---- off the field right now. Out. He's fired! He's fired!"
Trump said the protests, which became public last year when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled for a preseason national anthem, are "hurting the game."
Trump didn't mention Kaepernick or any other NFL player specifically during the speech. The QB opted out of his contract with the 49ers during the offseason and has not been signed by a new team since.
"The only thing you could do better," Trump said, "is if you see it, even if it's just one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee things will stop. Things will stop. Just pick up and leave. Pick up and leave. Not the same game anymore, anyway."
Trump went on to say referees are "ruining the game" by calling 15-yard penalties for "beautiful" tackles. He also said that NFL ratings are down "massively, massively" because people prefer watching him. NFL ratings dropped eight percent in 2016 compared to 2015.
An NFL spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what Trump said.
ESPN fired Rush, went after Joe Paterno, fired Curt Schilling.

I really think they should cover the players in pink bubble wrap packaging and use a flag instead of tackling. Targeting could then also be touching the opponent anywhere on the body.

So true! DJT was on his game this evening. When he began talking about the anti-American players he spoke to a YUGE number of persons.
Of, course, some, being liberal, have no understanding of why or how this is happening. All they now see is that this game (and possibly many other professional sports) is not the same one they remember. Liberals need to be taught just what they have done to change this nation...and NONE of it for the better or greater good!
P.S. BIL is a big sports nut as are his sons. Have no clue as to how they view this new predicament but more than certain they see no connection in the way most of us do.

There were something like 16 killings of blacks by police last year. I dare say that almost all of them (if not ALL) were justified, or at least defensible. Sixteen. In Chicago, they see that many blacks shot in a week. One city. One week. And these self important jocks criticize AMERICA? Just once, I would like to see them stand up for family. For civilization. For law and order. Would be a refreshing change of pace.

Used to be a huge fan of the SA spurs but when their coach blasted trump right after the election I said F him and never saw another game they played!! Obtw...the coach’s snake tongue jinxed the team! They suck royally now!
