Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said in a statement on Friday that he will oppose the Graham-Cassidy Obamacare repeal bill. McCains vote against Graham-Cassidy effectively tanks renewed efforts to repeal Obamacare.
McCain said in a statement: advertisement
I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal. I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried. Nor could I support it without knowing how much it will cost, how it will effect insurance premiums, and how many people will be helped or hurt by it. Without a full CBO score, which wont be available by the end of the month, we wont have reliable answers to any of those questions.

OTOH he sandbagged the count at the end last time. Now there is time to wheel and deal with the hag from Alaska or surprise..............the 3 d chess move of Joe Manchin.
McCain provides cover for other republicans to support the bill.
Even a fatal brain cancer can't persuade him to dispense with his immense ego long enough to do the right thing and retire and spend his final months with his family and friends (assuming he still has any).
His father and grandfather were honorable men and probably would be ashamed of him if they were still alive.
McCain is the Arlen Sphincter of our day.
I don’t understand how he has been able to fool Arizonians for so many years.
I already counted him as a solid Democrat vote.
the need for vindictive revenge over rode reason and got him shot down. His vindictive temper knows no bounds and causes the world tons of trouble
Yah that’s how he keeps getting elected. I was in Phoenix last year during election time and the John McCain in the ads was to the right of Ronald Reagan!
I have so many interesting and wonderful friends. One a titan of an up and coming business. They noted, yes the markets are smoking, but a lot of the Trump Surge is because of the reduction in regulations, but....
Business is worried, and I asked them would you expand if Obamacare ( Graham-Cassidy isn't perfect but let that go) is changed and you get a 15% Corp Tax? the answer was "Oh hell Ya", in fact, I think business is counting on it.
People forget, Getting rid of Obamacare is the Foundation, Trump is the builder, this is really important to fix 1st of all.
What Senator McCain did was the Italian Salute and a giant "Up Yours" to making this economy an absolute dynamo that would make Reagan smile ( the totality of all PDJT's efforts ) not to just President Trump, but all of us.
That was wrong Senator, and frankly how dare you screw with our future, more importantly, our kids and grand kids future...
From Billy Joel who I don’t particularly like and whose politics stink.
This is such great news. This bill sucked wind. horrible adoption of Obamacare. That is not what we want. We want free enterprise !! Free Market— buy what you want!!I don’t want to pay for sick people joining SICK!! What kind of idiot would do that with their family money? Thanl God for Rand Paul. McBrain can go to hell. Kill the bill!!
“...Why is this jealous little old twit so powerful?...”
For the same reason Anthony Kennedy is on SCOTUS.
It’s a numbers game. And that feckless piece of treasonous sh*t knows it.
Hoping Mother Nature takes her course faster with him. Never thought I’d hear myself say that, but there it is.
He’s a danger to this Republic now, and it’s ALL petty and personal with him.
I truly believe that the entire US Senate, with the exception of Rand Paul, actually want Obamacare up to the point it fails and ushers in Single Payer. That’s what these 99 clowns want, they just all lack the balls go come out and advocate directly for it.
That said, McCain is a clown that America will be better without.
The charade continues. This is all smoke and mirrors. Graham, McConnell and the rest of the GOP “leadership” keep dangling the prospect of a repeal as a means to leverage more concessions from Trump.
It IS poor legislation, but even Levin came out and supported this bill as at least a start of decentralization of Obama-McCain Care.
I think Paul can be convinced if he sees that other changes will be made to the Bill afterward.

I think he would just say ‘why not now?’.

I think you hit the nail on the head.
