Summit County, Utah doesnt boast a vast population. However, what the county lacks in population it makes up for in an abundance of firearms.
Of the roughly 29,000 residents who occupy the county, 53 percent own a firearm. Thats according to City-Datas list of U.S. counties with the highest percentage of residents who keep firearms around their homes.
Impressive? Well, read on:

Proud to say we're #8. I think we're also #5 for the rate of concealed-carry permits. Everyone's packing around here.

I live in Los Angeles County. In the United States there are 3,142 counties (or an equivalent).
LINK I think it's safe to say we're within two or three of that figure, at the bottom of the list.

Yes, it’s such a shame too.
Few places on earth have as much going for them as California, and the Left has the only gun in the state pointed it’s head.

How was that survey done?
If this was based a telephone poll, I think that the percent polled who would tell an anonymous caller that they own a firearm might be a little higher the percent who would tell an anonymous caller their SS number, credit card numbers and passwords, but it's nowhere near 100%.
Based on the number of NICS FBI background checks since 1998 (269,485,959 through August 2017) and added to estimates of the minimum number owned before the NICS system was initiated, there must be at least 400,000,000 firearms in the United States.
So my estimate is that about 97.2% of Utah households own at last one firearm.

The article doesn’t cite methodology and only refers to City-Data as the source.
City-Data actually lists 101 counties and states that none of them are in the states with the strictest gun control laws.
However, if one lived in one of those states would one acknowledge their ownership?
I think polls like this are indicative rather than accurate and are in large part for entertainment.

I am going to have to call BS on this one. Mainly because you look at the Texas map and there are two flags. There are people here who still drive around with guns in there racks in the back window. If not in the window, they have them mounted on the floorboard pointed up.
Our County is less than 10,000 and is mainly ranching and farming. I was born and raised in this county, 61 years
I would wager a case of beer that it would push 85%-90% ownership. When you go to someone's home there is at least two weapons in the living room that you SEE. Most people own at least ONE gun safe that is bulging, some with built in room safes.
AND there are 10s if not 100s of counties like ours......#TEXIT is the venue for the day

I’m thinking the heading should be “legal” gun ownership - a quick drive through Chicago’s South Side (and I would recommend they keep it quick) might convince the authors that their numbers for gun ownership in Cook County IL might be a tad low.

Since we don’t have firearms registration, this list is probably less than perfect.
It does remind me of a conversation on a military base out west. The base commander stated his amazement that according to base records, there were two and a half firearms for every person living on post. He was shocked when another pointed out that included only those firearms residents had admitted to having.

I live in the county next to Memphis which is Shelby Co, which has the highest CCW permits in the state. Even though our county is mostly rural we still have a high CCW rate as many have to work in Memphis.
NOTE TO TENNESSEANS: YOU CAN NOW GET A LIFE TIME CCW PERMIT $200.
