Rand Paul: 'Graham/Cassidy Bill Is Barely ObamaCare Lite'
PJ Media ^ | 09/20/2017 | Michael van der Galien

With most Republicans backing the Graham/Cassidy healthcare bill, there is at least one Republican senator who's still vocal in his opposition. His name?

Senator Rand Paul.

Unlike his colleagues, who don't take their promises to American voters seriously, Senator Paul continues to call for the complete and total repeal of ObamaCare, the horrendous health care bill pushed through Congress by former President Obama and his Democratic allies.

I was thinking this all sounds familiar...amnesty?#GrahamCassidyِ: Amnesty for Obamacare.

— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) September 19, 2017

"No one wants to repeal ObamaCare more than I do," the senator from Kentucky writes at FoxNews.com. "As a career physician, there are few in Congress who have as much firsthand experience on all sides of the health care debate as I do. I’ve voted for repeal. I’ve sponsored my own Repeal and Replace plans."

However, he goes on: "I’ve also led the fight to stop and block ObamaCare Lite' plans offered in both houses of Congress this year. These have been plans that have spent nearly as much money as ObamaCare, that left most of the taxes and regulations in place, and basically failed to honor our promise of repeal."

Because the insurance that can be sold will no longer be required to cover everything plus the kitchen sink. HSA can be bought, and catastrophic policies. States can work out the solutions that work for then.

Because of the expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare there is no possibility of cold turkey. It will never pass.

The money going back to the states is not permanent. It is almost impossible to clawback an entitlement. This bill starts the process and has a great chance of getting there in 5 years or so.

So it’s “less unconstitutional”. Ugh.

Free the American People from Gov’t control and access to their private health information and care and restore our liberty. Anything less is still a win for the Tyrants, who make their progress incrementally.

I would say Patrick Henry’s “Give me Liberty or Give me Death”, but the Tyrants would be more than happy to accommodate with their Death Panels.

Politics is sometimes the art of the possible, not the perfect. This bill is much better than the current bill. It is why Obama and all Dems are screaming.

Good points...I'm sure Rand is correct, but if Congress does nothing, much worse will happen including handing Congress back to the dems.

This is a start....as meager as it is.

Rand Paul - about the only real guy on the Right in the Senate.

Rand Paul has delivered exactly nothing for “The Right.” He’s great at running his mouth on TV, of course.

The alternative is to be stuck with Obamacare forever. I guess that’s the plan/goal?

Not for Rand. As a Sentaor he is exempt from Obamacare and free to bloviate to his hearts content.

Yep more kabuki. He’s so conservative that we’ll be left with bamycare when he’s finished.

Now you’re over the target. You can expect incoming flak from our local Paulistinians for pointing out their emperor has no clothes.

Obamacare will fall on its own. Paul is preventing the Congress from replacing Obamacare with a Trumpcare version that is as bad or worse than Obamacare in its own way.

Name one entitlement program that has ever “fallen on its own”. You can’t. Regardless, the GOP controls Congress & the executive branches. We do not have divided government. Therefore, the GOP own the health care system now. No amount of doing nothing will change that. Sorry.

That's why you either repeal it in it's entirety or let it implode. I don't want Obamacare lite.

(Full disclosure) My healthcare is 100% paid by my employer! Obamacare ain't got nothing on King Kong!

Rand, just get on the Trump Train and sit down.

Trump signs this bill, the leftist agitators will cry for more and call it Trumpcare.

As Mark Levin said yesterday, we need to be more like Democrats and work on things in stages.

Rand Paul disagrees so we will have Obamacare for all for all eternity!

"Rand should shut up and vote for it."

I thought this place stood for limited government Constitutional conservatism, not socialism dolled up with "conservative" lipstick.

Apparently I was misinformed.

Maybe you’re wrong about this bill

Yeah? Name a "block" grant that the Federales confiscated from the states and returned to the states with strings attached that dictated how they had to spend said "federalism" dollars.

- Full repeal of Obamacare
- Turn Medicare/Medicaid over to the states
- Deregulate the entire healthcare system.

Rand Paul - about the only real guy on the Right in the Senate.

And about the only guy who actually read the Constitution. We need more just like him. A lot more.

The tyrants already won, that was the last 8 years.
We have the next 8 years, hopefully more, to show what can be done when the pendulum swings to the people.

Full repeal is not even remotely feasible with this Congress.

"Linda" is going to futz around with this project til it times out and requires 60 votes to pass. Then of course it will never pass and "Linda" will have once again served his masters on"K" street.

So once you’ve said that, screamed it to the rooftop the Globalists in Congress will either pass single payer or bail out Obamacare and crush our healthcare process.

You can hug your virtue to yourself. Anyone who insists on the impossible in the pursuit of purity is working for the enemy.

If you want to concede both the argument and the premise to the Marxist Left, knock yourself out.

The minute that Graham-Cassidy passes, left-wing agitators are going to file suit in various courts demanding that illegal aliens, transgendered and unemployed folks, and inner-city thugs get covered too. It's not fair, right?

So go ahead and sell your green properties in Monopoly for the light-blue ones and beat your chest that you made a "deal."

Since when did FReepers support Graham anyway? Lindsey Grahamnesty is behind this bill. Is this a DU thread?

I don’t trust anything in which Lindsey Graham is involved.
