That’s a good question. The daughter is willing to let her father possibly spend 40 years in prison?

She was raped and molested as a child. Yes I know testifying will bring back the memories. But memories cannot be as bad as the actual events.

Meanwhile her father languishes in prison.

Memories in PTSD format of traumatic events are as bad as the actual event. You relive, not remember, but relive every single moment - the smells, the sounds, how your body feels. It is literally reliving the moment. This is a tragedy.

“testifying will bring back the memories”

Seems to me the memories are already back, given her divorce & obvious distress at the whole process. If she is “going thru hell”, then a little more hell to save her dad should be acceptable.

As it is, if she has a conscience, she faces 40 years of guilt & pain while her dad rots in jail. Conversely, possibly saving her dad from this fate might go a long way toward her emotional recovery & give her back some self esteem.

She should have testified, possibly resulting in jury nullification & a not guilty verdict. Surely the sentencing judge would consider her testimony.
