For all my life, the figure was 20 million.

Over the past decade, it has been shrinking steadily.

The 20 million figure is for the totality of the Stalin regime.

The 4 million figure is only for the “Harvest of Sorrow” holocaust in the Ukraine in the 1930s.

Noone appears to know the real number, because so many were in Siberia, and here it talks of Ukraine, so not limited to any one area.... 20 million in all could be realistic!

Twenty million is widely accepted as total Stalin victims including forced collectivization and gulags. The number is probably low.
