A woman in Texas berated Hobby Lobby last week for selling cotton as a decorative home accessory.
This decor is WRONG on SO many levels. There is nothing decorative
about raw cotton... A commodity which was gained at the expense of
African-American slaves.
A little sensitivity goes a long way.
PLEASE REMOVE THIS "decor".
Daniell Rider posted her complaint to the craft stores Facebook page:
There is nothing decorative about raw cotton. A commodity which was gained at the expense of African-American slaves. A little sensitivity goes a long way.The post received close to 15,000 shares and 160,000 comments. The user, Daniell Rider, then received backlash for her sensitivity and responded to her critics:
PLEASE REMOVE this decor.
All those who are offended by cotton being a decoration need to quit buying any product made of cotton! And other users quickly came to her defense, one adding:
What difference does it make if its a decoration or part of a product. Youre being hypocritical if your offended by cotton being a decoration and not offended by any product made of cotton.

Like we’re going to listen to people who eat their boogers when the Food Stamps run out...
Your point is a little different then what I was thinking but after reading it, you may be closer to the truth then I am.
By encouraging blacks to act hostile to every real or perceived slight, there is never going to be a time the two (white/blacks) reach a point of mutual understanding and respect.
The left is willing to bankrupt our nation on welfare as long as it removes ambition from the next generation of blacks.
The left is willing to see our cities destroyed rather that allow blacks to grow and prosper in a vibrant economy.
The left is willing to destroy our education system to get the next generation ignorant.
The list goes on.
It is not conservatives that want to block blacks from achieving the American Dream, it is the left.
It is almost seems like they are working to some sort of plan.
It is so unfortunate that cotton is ... white.
Responses to a stupid post does not constitute people clamor in for any end to cotton....it was making a point about irony
I hope this insanity will fade quickly and doesn't get established like us using alphabet words.
Now that you mentioned it, I do not recall B. Obama having ever raved against cotton. Nor has Hillary.
Offer her a job in the cotton fields - voluntary of course. I bet she wouldn’t be able to keep it. When she gets fired she would sue for discrimination.
“A woman in Texas”
Do NOT CARE!! Why do we allow idiots a platform?! This stupid woman should be shamed and ridiculed like the moronoic op-ed college students writing in their useless school newspapers. It’s insane to listen to anything these people say!
How about tobacco???
My tighty-whiteys are racist?
I’ve got a white cat, guess his time is coming At least he is no longer a real male, maybe I can slip him through.
Ban Tobacco. Ban SEX - without sex there would not have been any new slaves.
I’m in the suburbs. No worries. I’ll keep your advice though if I end up where I really want to go...Alaska! Copied and saved in my survival folder.
Why are we allowing the least educated and most bigoted group of people in country to dictate the rules of society?
Cotton Balls Matter!
***white people picked cotton too,***
Reminds me of an old song chorus.
“But I never picked cotton.
But my mother did, and my brother did and my sister did,
And my daddy died young, workin in a coal mine.”
I see plenty of cotton when I visit my BIL in North Carolina. I don’t see any slaves picking it. “Daniell Rider” is a liar and a stupid, ignorant, worthless little cxxx.
It’s artificial-I was thinking about buying some at while at Hobby Lobby yesterday. It’s brown tape wrapped around a wire stem. Just like ever other artificial floral/greenery product. The cotton bolls are just cotton balls attached to the stem.
Let them take all cotton out of their own lives for 6 months and ask them again.
